Nell 1
Out last night for the first time this season, tried some permission I have, it was the first time I'd been there in over a year and I wasn't disapointed!, not the biggest of bags at 12 rabbits, but some good fun all the same. I took along a young lad that is trying to get into dogs, i bred him a couple of terrier pups last year, so he will have something to come out with me with during my days out, he also bought a lurcher pup at around the same time and has been pestering me for a while to take the two of them out with me, to be honest I had gone off lamping rabbits, but last night really got me going again . We started off well with my dog getting the first one he run, due to it being the the lad's pup's first time out properly, she didn't get too many runs. My dog went on to catch another 8 on this part of my permission and put in some good runs too, very enjoyable to watch. On the 8th rabbit, just about to put him on the lead, when he shot off, switched on the lamp and he was in hot persuit of a big red that must have come to the squealing!! He put in few good turns but the fox made good its escape in the end after my dog took a tumble We finished off on a local golf course, where the rabbits were not as lampshy as I had expected! We got a rabbit in a tight corner with practically nowhere to go, so I let the young lad have a slip, his young dog did well and after turning the rabbit up and down the hedge a couple of times made the strike, my young friend could not contain his excitement, he was over the moon! wasn't bad for her 3rd ever run! So we ended the night with me finding my hunger for the humble rabbit again, after recently diverting my attention on other quarry  ..... and my young friend going to bed to dream about his pups first catch A good night in more ways than one! Sorry I have a few pics but I'm on my works PC cos I'm a tight git and wont buy one of my own Good hunting all Danny Quote Link to post
