Airedales (and other terriers) for upland work

Recommended Posts

Once it has become apparent that it's time to retire my old veteran Lab; my next gundog will probably be an Airedale . I admire their intelligence, versatility and protection instinct . They are a very real birds to bears kind of dog. I like that.

That being said have you guys ever used your own terriers as flushers and what were your overall impressions ? I found this video on youtube, and the dog's style is very much what I like to see. I typically don't hunt big country ( I see no point in covering 500 square miles for 3 quail) so I don't need a fast, ground covering dog. Rather something more like this fella. Slow and meticulous to find those tightholding birds .
