Aaron Proffitt 142
In that summer , my mother was in London with my Uncle and Aunt to visit family in the area . As they made their way through the city one day , they came upon a protest . This gathering was a mix of both pro and anti fox hunting groups. One of the things my mother mentioned was the call of the hunter's horns from the preservists . The sound of that age old instrument ringing over the crowds roar. Of course, my mother was recognized as a tourist and warned that she may want to go else where . But my mother, being a devout hunter herself, remained there. She wanted to stand with her counter parts . And she did, although back aways. At nearing 60 , well... she's fragile. But she left London very struck by the passion "our" side displayed . And she mourned the loss of the tradition even though she's never fox hunted in her life. That being said....I think it's high time you guys learned how proud we are of you as a hunting community . You stood firm against a relentless, narcisstic enemy that is beyond reason . Sportsman the world over speak of admiration about how UK hunters forge onward and look forward to the opportunities that you have. Many of us (especially in the sporting dog world ) find ourselves researching the old trainers from the British Isles and using many of the designs they had when breeding the terriers, spaniels, and retrievers that are now employed the world over. Once again, the UK has found herself a foundation of future development. Again , I am very proud of the fortitude your community displayed and wish you nothing but more adventures into the wild places in the future to come. Aaron
