dog gone 21
just a quick one thinking of making a few lean to high seats, just thought i would ask people on here what would be the ideal height and what sort of price would you expect to pay for a good decent highseat Quote Link to post
waidmann 105
i would always make them myself. whether wood or steel its not too hard with a bit of time and a few tools you can make a seat to fit the land you want it for( question of height/stop for the bullet, double seat, roofed over etc). wood is easy to build, steel is easy to maintain( wood needs to be checked every year and each time you use it for rot and the sawing of antis) again to height: the big advantage of sitting higher is you have a stop( we had high seats at 8 meters on one sloping field). if the land is good anyway you can be better off with a simple blind/hide. if cover is high you can see into it at height. if you sit high on the edge of a wood you are often "out of wind". you will come away alot cheaper and have just what you want on the ground. the aluminium ladders can be adapted quite easily with a bit of wood for the seat assembly and a few bolts. load straps fix them well to a tree without damage and is easy to move around without tools. to buy one i guess around 70-100 pounds ( you could prob make 2 or 3 for that). if you dont want to weld yourself then ask a small welding firm, they will knock it up in no time. hope this helped.
