I got into town today. Had to pick up a load of supplies, including some sort of Dog Food. It's not as straightforeward for me, here, as it may be for some of you. In fact, I pretty much have to take what I can get, for love or money. Today, following up on a plan I've been hatching, I approached the tiny little Slaughter House we have down there.

 

I figured Tripe might be an idea. And, being as they'd most likley be paying to get rid of it - as we do our waste here, by the bin full - I guessed I might be welcome to some.

 

So, I wandered into the compound, making sure to walk well in the open and wide of any doors, like ye do. Not wishing to be seemingly sneaky in a place such as that. Saw a couple of things which brought back memories. Then I heard a sound and turned to meet the man.

 

" Hullo, " I said. " I've got a few dogs to feed and was wondering if you might be able to supply me with some tripe, please ? "

 

The guy took me at my word. No problems what so ever. But his reply, whilst causing a 'Ding' in my brain there and then, didn't really sink in and start me rocking with gentle and uncontollable laughter untill I was back in the pub and had time to consider it:

 

" Tripes? " He said. " For sure! Only. if you could come back in about an hour ? Only .....

I work in a slaughterhouse too, remember to worm dogs regularly as sheep tripe gives worms more frequently than ox tripe!
