sniper 30
Hi all i was just wondering what is the best lurcher you have owned mine was a toss up between a 3/4 Greyhound 1/4 Border Collie or a Halfx Collie/Grey bitch, both exceptional dogs, on all quarry that was put infront of them, im just dissapointed i dont have a pup off either off the 2 of them, i dont have picks of them when they were older and working but heres one of the 3/4 Grey 1/4 Border i had when he was a pup... The litter i have now of bull/grey x saluki/grey, These have the potential to be imo, the best dog ive ever owned..................heres hoping, Edited September 1, 2009 by sniper Quote Link to post
Tiny 7 1,694
Mine was a 3/8 bull/Gh (real racey could'nt tell he had bull in him)... It was far from the best catch dog iv had, but me and that dog just got on, It was weird everything about him i just loved and could'nt do wrong in my eye's, Only had him about a year and the only thing it caught was rabbits, Then he got smashed up one night on the lamp after a rabbit, And well that was the end of that... Best catch dog i had was a lurcher to lurcher breeding, Mainly made up of sal/collie/gh/whip and a bit more collie, His catch rate would of being 80/90% everything he run he caught.. Would not finish a fox tho but a good dog all the same.. Quote Link to post
bill88 6
My old man had a half cross collie grey in the 60's.He was still talking about how good the dog was until the day he died in 2001.Said it wasn't the fastest, but could think quicker than any dog he'd seen.RIP Dad,RIP Laddie Quote Link to post
craigyboy 1,274
mine was a 1st cross saluki grey i owned in the early 80s,29tts and what a dog he was,out of a litter from non working parents and it turned out mine was the only 1 of a litter of 7 that worked,i had him from a pup an he took all quarry with ease but he really excelled on the long ears,i got offered a tidy sum of money for that dog by quite a few coursing men and a traveller once offered me his cortina(which was a decent car then) for him and a few weeks later the same bloke tried to nick him, i had him pts at the age of 8 through lameness il try an get sum pics up if i can find em Edited August 23, 2009 by craigyboy Quote Link to post
