Dear Nevin Hunter

Reference; not using the RSPB on raids anymore given the past criminal activity to secure convictions.

Given the very important debate on the International Falconry Forum and Hunting Life in relation to the police not using the RSPB on raids anymore given the past alleged criminal activity to secure convictions especially in relation to Guy Shorrock would you please make a statement detailing why the police are no longer using the RSPB on raids and is Guy Shorrock still involved with investigating potential offences involving birds?

I am sure you would acquiesce that the matters mentioned above are potentially a watershed and a Rubicon given the many years of the police closely working with the RSPB over many years.

Thank you for your help.

Why giving power to the RSPB, a non government and bias organisation, can never work in the interests of justice. Even the great Derek Radcliffe author of the Classic book The Peregrine falcon can be found in the above links criticising the RSPB.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I want both the specific and general information that you hold on

not using the RSPB and RSPCA on police raids.

Below is an example of a raid by the police that did not involve

the RSPB or RSPCA.

Rare Birds Seized Torquay 9:20am Monday 10th August 2009 Comments

(0) Have your say »

Eight rare Goshawks were examined and one seized in an early

morning raid near Torquay. Police and animal health inspectors

found the protected birds in properties in the Torquay and

Kingsbridge areas. Police wildlife crime officers, supported by the

National Wildlife Crime Unit and animal health inspectors and vets,

swooped on the properties shortly after 7am on Thursday, August 6.

Blood samples taken from the birds have been sent away for

analysis. Alan Roberts, investigative support officer for the

National Wildlife Crime Unit, explained that goshawks are a

protected species under the 1981 Wildlife and Countryside Act. "In

the last few weeks there have been a number of rare birds seized in

similar circumstances throughout the country," he said. "It is

unfortunately and all too common offence. "We hope that this latest

recovery will send out a very strong message to anyone considering

taking or harming protected birds that specialist officers will

investigate and bring offenders before the courts." Mr Roberts also

urged anyone with information about wildlife crime to contact

Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. A 40-year-old man from

the Torquay area was arrested as part of the operation and later

released on police bail until October 28 pending further enquiries.

Yours faithfully,
