Guest Countryboyo
No point if hes a show dog that has never seen work. Im sure the lurcher would look the part dont get me wrong but you would be taking a gamble with a non worker. I would be interested to hear if their were any working IT's left. Ive only ever came acrosss one. have you a picture of the one you are talking about? Quote Link to post
Sully 3
Hi Boyo, I'll ask him for a piccy, deffo not seen any work...I doubt if theres been any worlkers for Yrs in his ancensestry, I know that we've been over and over this before but is it 100% essential for parents to be from working stock ? anagallis_arvensis 2
Hi Boyo, I'll ask him for a piccy, deffo not seen any work...I doubt if theres been any worlkers for Yrs in his ancensestry, I know that we've been over and over this before but is it 100% essential for parents to be from working stock ? my best terrier came from a non workin background, the best all round lurcher dog i had ever bein with only the sire was working, my mates small pack of terriers are all from non working and they are as game as they come, is it just a peace of mind if they come from working background ? ex racing greyhounds are mostly from non working back grounds but they game and can ( sometimes ) work, i cant decide my self if it matters as i have sein good working dogs come from working and non working parents, , ,atb If working parents are best why are there not more lurcherxlurchers going back many generations? Sully 3
Great call that, I personally dont think it matters a jot, isnt it inherant in the makeup of the breed....collies, spaniels, labs, GSD's all have there own traits, so whats the difference with seight hounds ? I know this a dog I had, I know for sure that the dogs sire and dam deffo didnt work, and yet the bitch in question would run through walls to get to what it was chasing, Im really looking forward to seeing how Lexy works out, I cant fault her so far, very quick to learn, course I still pull my hair out at times, but remain calm and she gets it right in the end, I know if she's up for it or not, jus getting passed the sniffing about when she's sposed to be retrieving bit, interesting to what other peeps thinks Edited August 13, 2009 by Sully Quote Link to post

Ive heard of plenty good dogs coming from non working stock. Would your friend let you take his dog out and give it a go? Quote Link to post
