NOW I WAS ON THE PHONE THIS MORNING, AND I WAS TOLD MY NAME WAS BEING PASSED ON, AT THE SELBY FAIR, NOT JUST THE SITE NAME , BUT MY NAME, NOW THIS COULD BE A SLIP OF THE TONGUE, NOW I AM A BIT NARKED ABOUT IT, NOT TO MUCH ,BUT JUST EXPECTED, THAT MEMBERS HAVE THAT CODE OFF LOYALTY WE EXPECT ON THIS WEBSITE, NOW I WILL SAY THIS ,AND I DO NOT CARE IF I,M BELIEVED OR NOT , IN MY POACHING LIFE ,AND YES POACHING ,THO NOT BY MY CHOOSING, JUST THE TIMES I WAS BORN IN ,AND HAVE CARRIED ON THROUGH EACH DECADE, I CAN SAY THIS , I,VE DONE MOST THATS CAN BE DONE ,NOT ALL BUT MOST, AND IN MY OWN TOWN ,I,VE GAINED RESPECT BY HAVING THE BOTTLE TO GO WERE SO MANY DARE NOT, THIS WAS TO FURTHER MY EDUCATION WHEN IN MY YOUTH, AND TO GIVE MY DOGS THE BEST CHANCES ,TO GAIN THIER EDUCATION, NOW IN MY LIFE TIME I,VE OWNED DOGS ,THAT SOME OF YOU WOULD DIE FOR, AND I ,VE LOST DOGS I FELT LIKE DYING FOR, SO ANYTHING SAID ABOUT DOGS , OR THE HUNTING OF QUARRY , OR THE MEANS OFF GETTING GAME ,I CAN ASSURE YOU I,VE DONE, I,VE SEEN THE WORST OFF THINGS AND THE BEST, AND FOR ALL MY FAILINGS ,HAND ON HEART HAVE ALWAYS TRIED TO TREAT , MY QUARRY WITH RESPECT, BUT I LIKE TO THINK THAT I,M WELL RESPECTED NOT JUST FOR MY VENTURES WHERE I LIVE ,BUT FOR BEING KNOWN TO KEEP A TIGHT TONGUE ON WHAT OTHERS DO, NOW THIS IS NOT THE END OFF THE WORLD TO ME, I JUST FEEL SORRY THAT PEOPLE CANNOT KEEP MUM ,WHEN THEY SHOULD DO, NOW I WAS NOT TOLD WHO IT WAS, THO I WAS TOLD ITS SOME ONE I KNOW, BUT REMEMBER IF YOU HAVE A WEAKNESS FOR NAME DROPPING ,IT COULD SO EASY GO BEHOND THIS WEB ,AND AFFECT MY FAMILY, YOU ALL KNOW WHAT THESE COWARDLY ANTIS ARE LOW ENOUGH TO DO , NOT MAN TO MAN, I,M AFRAID, AT THE SAME TIME THIS COULD BE A GENUINE MISTAKE, JUST A SLIP OFF THE TONGUE.

sadly thats the lurcher world for you There are always folk who will drop you in it, some by mistake , some will do it on purpose I had my fair share of it too, people saying they knew me and Id never heard of them or met them, knowing "of" someone isnt the same as knowing them personally, but then some in the lurcher world have a name for waggling their tongues at any opportunity and causing mischief.

 

I know a lot of people think antis are the "enemy" but I have to disagree, I have found that the enemy is very often within and In all the years I have poached and hunted, I have never had one bit of trouble off anyone who opposes hunting, but I have had a shitload of grief off fellow lurcher folk who have a touch of the green eyed monster, or who just like to gossip.

 

I'll be honest, Ive had poison pen letters from fellow lurcher folk, nasty comments, phonecalls, text messages, death threats and even my dogs nicked, so I am of the strong opinion that circulating amongst the lurcher owning populus can be detrimental as well as positive, depending on your choice of hunting friends and companions, (I was always a poor judge of character ) and thats why these days I prefer to chat on the net rather than meet people in real life or at shows (where the majority of the gossip mongering seems to go on ) as its "safer " that way. I have learned the hard way that people are not always who and what they seem and It takes a lot to earn my trust these days.

 

Learner, I hope you find out the person who is saying whatever it is they are saying and have a wee quiet word with them, theres always some who cant keep their gobs shut and these are the ones who spoil it for the rest
