RAT!!.i had a walk round my local fishing lake tonight with the old lurcher and the pup.

i also took along the little nipper rat trap so i could hopefully get a rat and let the pup have a look at one.

well,to say it went to plan was an understatement.i had been there for around twenty minuites and spotted a group of five rats mouching on the embankment .at this point the dogs were going crazy but i didnt let them go.i put the dogs up the bank out of the way and went down and set the trap.by the time i had walked back to the dogs the trap went.so i got the dogs and walked back down to where the trap had been set,i peered over the grass to find the trap was empty.on looking again the rat was sat at the side of the trap looking a bit dazed,so i let the old girl go to do her buisness on the rat.she grabbed it and give it a quick shake.unfortunatley the rat flew out of her mouth and straigh into the water .it came straight to the top,took a gasp of air and dove back under.it done this several times before it came back up and the pup seen it.i got the old dog out of the way and gave the pup his moment of glory.at first he was unsure of what to do with it and i was expecting him to get bit,but he never and he finally grabbed the rat and killed it.i was very suprised but at the same time very pleased with the dog as he has very little hunting experience and he is only six and a half month old
