But i suppose that if i wanted one for some of the things youve mentioned then the breed wouldnt matter, i would go for one that held a FAC. Quote Link to post
Guest donh
Its probably been said already but its worth repeating: The breeding depends on: The terrain that is being worked. The Chosen quarry species. The suitability of the owner. Some dogs would exel in one field but be found wanting in another. For example a coursing greyhound would not last 2 minutes on a grouse moor, A first cross collie greyhound would not have the same straight line speed, ect, ect, any choice of breeding is a compromise between terrain, quarry and owner, but as long as you and your dog are happy working together as a team and you are catching, who cares about confomation colour or breeding. there is no thing as a perfect all rounder (although there are some first class dogs). As soon as people accept this they will enjoy their sport more. There, feel better for getting that off my chest, all the best donh Quote Link to post

Guest miller1989
In reply to your other thread about bull crosses as its been locked and i wanted to share this with you if you wish to reply pm please! You say a bull x is only good for red coates and the odd rabbit, well your very wrong i took 23 rabbits and 3 red coates so if that bag aint pleasing on a nights lamping your a wierd bloke! Fences and injuries as you said: Bull x's are very rarely injured infact mine will pile drive to a fence to take a bunny she hit one this season on top of a 75% sloped hill and a fence 13-15 meters away striked it awsome catch rolled and flipped down and smashed into the fence she got up brought bunnys back and kept running for the night,my only recorded injury is a pain in the arse cut on the back of her leg which barbed wire done in middle of field which couldnt be helped, she was out for 8 days! Now ive nothing against and other crosses and if i remeber rightly youve never seen a bull cross work with your hardcore lurchermen, well maybe your mistaking them for amatures! If i had the roomi would have every cross possible just love working dogs but sadly i dont so the best dog for my kennel and im sure it wouldnt dissapoint any collie x owners either is a well bred 3/4 grey 1/4 bull! Guest fence_hopper
it's all down to luck and putting a lot of hardwork into your dog and the willingness of the dog to learn regardless on the breeding. for example i would never own a saluki cross but one of the best dogs i've seen was one. but i've also seen a few that where just descent. dark snipe 0
Depends on what quarry the dog must kill to be an allrounder some breed just could not handle some quarry Quote Link to post
sniper 30
A GOOD WELL BRED SALUKI/GREY X BULL/GREY WILL DO THE JOB. JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION, ALTHOUGH I DONT BELIEVE THAT THEIR IS THE "PERFECT" ALLROUNDER. I BELIEVE THEIR IS DOGS AT THE TOP OF THEIR GAME FOR CERTAIN QUARRY AND CAN DO OTHER QUARRY TO A DECENT STANDARD BUT I DONT BELIEVE THAT THEIR IS AS MANY 100% ALLROUNDER LURCHER.FOR EXAMPLE A SALUKIX AND COURSING,BULLX'S AND WORKING BITING BACK QUARRY. I CAN BELIEVE THAT THEIR IS OR HAS BEEN DOGS AROUND THAT HAVE DONE THIS AND CREDIT IT TO THEM AND THE OWNER OF THESE DOGS, THESE DOGS WILL NOT BE TALKED ABOUT OVER FORUMS OR SHOWS ECT ETC. CHEERS.
