lewismac1 1
-Encourage her to you using an edible reward? -When she come's back let her play with a tennis ball or a toy? -Use a check cord so you can always be in control of the situation? At 7 month's make everything fun and game's and have LOT'S of praise, Try not to be too serious on her as she is still only a pup. Cheer's Quote Link to post
MikeC 0
As the previous post said, keep her on a longline, use decent size tasty treats which can be made smaller as she learns, let her know you have a pocketful of them, make her do something easy to earn her meals, sit / stay etc, keep her on a longline until she recalls everytime, lots and lots of praise and practice..... Do not get irate, do not tell the dog off, especially do not tell her off for not coming back, its self defeating. Its all done with kindness and consistancy, above all do not even try to teach it to hunt or whatever, get her to do all the basics correctly first, she is to young to work yet and any bad habits learnt will be very hard to break. Springers most often respond better to a whistle than to voice, so I would teach her voice first then teach her the whistle while using voice and hand signals. Patience is a virtue where Springers are concerned, tasty treats and praise are the way forward, Quote Link to post
