.22 or 12 bore

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to get my first certificate gun (got an air rifle) and would like advice on what to get. I'm 17 and want to shoot rabbits pigeons just general shooting. Any advice about what is best for a budget would be much appreciated.

i would get your shotgun cert first as it will easier to get as the police need to no you are compidant and i there eyes you could do less damage with a shotgun (.22 will travel for up to a mile if not shot against a solid background)

Cheers

any ideas about type shotgun to start?

dont take this as gospel as im probably not the best person to give you advice on this but..........

apply for both at the same time, its cheaper!

get the rimfire first as if your used to an air rifle you will get along better with that than trying to get your head round moving targets when your used to static ones!

get down your local gun/clay club and take some lessons!

probably not in the right order but hope it helps, im sure some of the lads on here who know better will be along in a bit to help out!

cheers

The M1 is the boundary to my best bit of shooting, FEO passed it for rimfire and .223 :clapper:

You don't add guns to an SGC the same as FAC.

You apply for your SGC and when it comes all shiny and sealed, you can buy as many shotguns as you want/need as long as you can keep them secure.

So in effect, once you have your SGC, your free to buy your first gun ;)

Thanks for the help think i'm going to go for sgc. do i need to pay for the license AND pay for adding the first gun onto it? Also any ideas abut what kind of gun?

cheers

good choice to start with. get either a miroku or browning (there made in the same factory). they are cheap but will work fautlessly all day long. if you want to spend a bit more then get a beretta. good luck with what you get.

I'd disagree about Browning or Mirouku being cheep guns, even S/H. A beginer will learn all he/she needs from a Baikal or such like, no need to spend any more on a first gun. Infact I'd say it's inadvisable for a new starter, IMHO of course. ;)
