Guest oldskool
what cross is he mate??? at 9 months he will be a bit young for work most breeds with maybe the exceptions of a whippet cross are still developing hes a deerhound greyhound x collie whippet greyhoud so what age do you recemend working him ? ? do you think he will have much more growing to do??? i would usually work mine between 12-14 months mate... most of my lurcher work is done on the lamp and when i'm starting mine off i like them to be well developed, i've trained and worked a deerhound cross before and he wasnt fully developed till he was 18 or so months... i only give a dog 3 or 4 runs maybe 1 or 2 more than that if they havent taken much out of him.... on his first night out he will usually miss them and you dont want to dishearten a newcomer... plus you may find his first slip at a rabbit will have you standin about half the night trying to call him back lol... sometimes when the adrenaline kicks in the obedience goes out the window you will meet all sorts of obstacles at this game mate ... at 9 months and at this time of the year i would be workin on his retrieving, recalling and some light jumping etc... there is no better time of the year for it Quote Link to post
