We were called to a local estate where the pest control is on going .This is not a council estate but a country estate where things are very much real life ,in your face and sometimes very red in tooth and claw .

The keeper had seen a fox 'towing 'yes you read that right ,towing a muntie fawn still alive across a field towards cover and he rushed home for the rifle ,luckily finding the fox on the edge of a patch of woodland and shot it with a now half dead fawn still clamped in her jaws. He despatched that too .He has found the earth and thats where we come in .

The earth was used last year but he shot the lot so its a new vic here now .Its a big 20 holer and every hole showed sign of use by the cubs .We entered a small bitch this morning and then settled back to await proceeding .A cub bolted and ran into my legs then on ,up a run and i shot it followed by a long period of nothing with the bitch running round fast ,following i suppose .My mate heard her baying a couple of times and got a mark under a tree of 1.1m.

The dig was a meer formality and we broke through to find the bitch baying at a hole she couldnt quite get ,between the roots of the tree .Lifted her and saw a tiny nose come forward .Stood back and despatched it as it showed more .Tried the bitch again but to no avail but definately more in there than 2 .Keeper said hed set a cage trap so not to worry .I found the remains of 4 different muntie fawns and countless pheasant bits so all in all ,a job well done .
