i was just wondering....

If you could cross a JRT with any other bushing/earth breed what would be your favourite to cross with? and why your decision?

Thanks for takin the time to read this.....

depends on what job you want the terrier to do. if its earth work cross it with a lakeland/fell type, i had a small lakexrussell bitch that was grand little terrier to own, loved to hunt and when she wasn't hunting was as quite as a mouse out in the yard. just make sure what ever you cross with is from working stock.

If it is a decent well bred Russel then breed it with another well bred working Russel,if you cant find another decent Russel then try another working terrier.

If it isnt a good worker then dont breed atall.

Most terriers will bush. Depends on your circumstances. if the dog lives in and will be part of the family and live with other dogs, i like borders as the other half...more biddable.

As Kane said any good proven earth dog for the other half if its to be used for digging i would imagine, unless you are wanting a certain 'look'.

What are the attributes you like in the Jack Russell?

Simply find another dog with those attributes and breed to it.

A good example of a proper Russell will have very different characteristics to a Lakeland, Patterdale, Border etc in my opinion
