  4. Thank for the advice everyone, Been doing a bit of reading, and seems the stuff to get is oxalis acid which could get it back to how it was before I tried to stain it. If that doesn't work then I am screwed will try and get some pictures up. Thanks all Stevie
  5. Hello, Got a darker one to try, but doing the same thing, it dries on the surface then wipes off Cheers
  6. Hello The stock was done with 0000 steel wool, but I did notice it was as smooth as glass before I tried to stain it, let it dry over night. Maybe I have over sanded as I was up to 800 grit, but the stock didn't even darken at all. Loads of head scratching going on!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers.
  7. Hello, Will try and upload a few Cheers Bloody iPhone won't upload pictures!!!!!!!!
  8. Hello I decided to refinish my beech stock. Everything has gone great. Stripped the factory finish off, sanded down through all the grits, the stock is now lovely and smooth. I got some Liberon water based walnut stain. I applied the stain per instructions, but for some reason the wood is not absorbing the stain, the stock has gone from very pale to a light dirty brown colour. I tried a second coat the next night, and let it dry over night, same thing again wiped off with a damp cloth. Any help would be greatly appreciated Stevie.
  9. Hello, Thanks to everyone for the great advice!! Will start stripping ASAP, and if it all goes tits up, then i will have to do some serious begging to the wife for a new walnut one. Cheers. Stevie
  10. Hello, I don't suppose anyone knows how much longer a beech scorpion stock is compared an ultra beech stock at the forend. Cheers.
  11. Hello Roger, That's very kind of you mate, But I've just discovered one of my dads mates use to make and refurbish old golf clubs. He has got loads of gel stain and all the other stuff I will need, along with a helping hand. Thanks again mate. Steve.
  12. Hello John, That's a cracking stock mate, that's just the colour I am looking for!!! Was it hard to do mate. Cheers
  13. Hello, For sale is my UTG 3x9x40 IR SCOPE. 3 inch sunshade It is in very good condition, with only a few tiny Scratches. Perfect working order. I will be honest in saying that the turrets adjustment is not as good as a hawke or the like. The only thing different is the cap that covers the Battery for the IR is a hawke one. The UTG one was stolen! Comes with sportsmatch ht07c mounts £35 posted uk mainland. Cheers. Stevie.
  14. Hello mate, I have a XTX regged ultra .22, I get 75 full power shots from mine. Shot count for me was an added bonus, but having no power curve and running at a constant 11.4 - 11.5 is bliss Don't get me wrong, it's not cheap but WELL WORTH IT. Darrin at XTX did a grand job. A.T.B stevie
  15. Roger, I would be trying to get a nice dark earthy brown. I have read on the tinternet that beech doesn't take a dark stain very well, and seems to end up that orangy/brown which is what I am trying to avoid! Cheers. Stevie.
  16. Hello, No not started stripping yet, I wee bit scared to incase it ends up looking like an year old who spent to much time in benidorm! I should have went for walnut to begin with. I like making something look better so I can stand back and say to myself " I DID THAT " Stevie.
  17. Hello, I don't suppose anyone has had any success with stripping and re-staining a beech stock darker. I have a bsa ultra, it has a nice stock, but the colour like looks like a fake sun tan. Cheers.
  18. Keep at it David, it took me 8 months to get my first and only one so far. All I did in the mean time was practice making sure my pellet went where I wanted it. You could try putting it in writing, and put it through their doors, that's what I did and finally I got a score
  19. Hello, I use a bsa ultra XTX regged .22 with a 10x44 hawke sidewinder. It was a nightmare at first, talk about pellet fussy! Finally cracked it with defiant pellets large size
  20. Totally agree, I have been trying to get permission at the St. Andrews university for over a year, but no joy. Such a shame, I could take 50 rabbits a day and not even begin to dent the population.
  21. Hello to all on the forum, I've only had my air rifle for 18 months, and boy has it changed my life The credit crunch ever pushing me to try and save the penny's. I took notice of the abundance of wild game where I live, so I now put good grub on the table, feed the dogs, all for the price of a tin of pellets. Steven.
  22. Hello to everyone, just joined this very minute. I have nobody to talk to about my air rifle addiction, as my wife is not the least bit interested. Hello from Scotland.
