She was kennelled, then the kennels were invaded by red ants!she has been in the house for two months,no trouble at all.my deer/grey/whip has had two seasons since the grey arrived that didnt bring her in either.

  2. be more precise you say youve had it 2 weeks so not 6 months?

and some dogs will go every 8 month

  3. Hi,

I was given a two and a half year old bitch last August.Banned from the track for barging.According to the trainer I got her from she had not been given any hormone treatment to hault seasons.Having had her just two weeks she had a quite normal season.Since then nothing.I am used to having lurchers ,and them coming into season every six months like clockwork. This bitch is so easy to live with, and has taken to work very easily.Any thoughts appreciated.Cheers Jon

  4. Hi all looking for some info on some good quality hunting boots looking for something for all aspects of hunting, shooting etc. been looking at danner boots and lowa, altberg,le chameu what are your valued opinions

Don't know where you are,but what about "Real" fell boots from Staffordshire?Lad at Stoney Middleton. About £140.00 a pair.Last years with right care.

  5. A few years ago, I was looking for a Beddy pup ,criteria simple- had to be from proven working parents.

I looked at maybe half a dozen Granitor litters, advertised as "working Bedlingtons, but was very dissapointed to find that the breeders idea of working and mine were poles apart. How anyone can advertise "working Bedlingtons" on the basis that they chase Rabbits is beyond me.

I'm not saying that Granitors don't work, but I cnat see them being handier than a Rillington bred dog or even Gutchcommon or Rambo bred.

... A guy called Hunterscliff used to post on here, he had working Granitors. - search his posts.

know Rillington stuff from years back.seen Rambo line too. will search. cheers.

  6. Before the ban, can the longdog do what a lurcher does .or can a lurcher beat a longdog at it own game ie hares.

    whats the best???

    longdog vs lurcher ??

Its down to the individual dog.I had a bullx that took hares with ease.(pre ban)have whipxdeer/grey got up to them quicker.

  7. Not only this but Greyhounds are wimps its as simple as that! - The slightest cut oh my god TRAUMA :icon_redface:

I took on an ex track bitch ..........just three when I got her.One month of bonding, new name to learn, get her used to a whistle too.Sound in kennel, never any mess, quiet, good with other running dogs, and taken to job with ease. When so many "running dogs are 3/4greys does that 1/4 make that much difference? Its got me thinking, having had bedixgreys, whipxgreys, bullxgreys over the years.

Whimps :o I've seen a different side of them to you FastDogz, many times I've witnessed greyhounds breaking a leg in a race and on a lot of occasions they will complete the race.

Same with injuries,if something live or artificial gets up infront of them it doesn't matter to them if they are injured or not they will still take off after it.

Have you ever been unfortunate enough to see two greyhounds fight or saw them after a fight, wimps they are not.I have unluckily been in that situation  After I'd cleaned them up both dogs stood quietly as I stitched their cuts, not a hint of a TRAUMA.

I thought the same thing Tote, totally agree, they are desighned with shock resistance in mind.

  8. She sounds like a cracker mate. How old is she? Mine has just turned 2 and very much reliving her puppyhood, Its like having a 25kg puppy around the place. I think she'll come good for me though. She's mad keen to chase, her prey drive is sky high, i just need to activate that brain of hers.

Just three in August.Off to some new permission Friday, plenty of scope then. Then Sunday to one of our best places.confident she will take her place very soon JON

  9. You're very lucky. I've had a young, 2 year old ex racer here now for 5 months. She's a nice enough little bitch but has no sense of commands what so ever. She's mad keen for the little dogs and wants to kill anything that moves on sight. She'd be a dynamite little dog if she just showed a little self control but she's as mad as they come. Is your bitch speyed by any chance?

    Clip

No, my bitch is not speyed, I got her direct from an owner/trainer.So no retired greyhound trusts in volved.I intend to see how she performs this season and next, then put her to a friends deerhoundxgreyhound. If she progresses in the same fashion I will be quite happy to let her have a litter and keep one for myself. My intention was never to obtain a lurcher producing bitch.I got her by chance really,I was looking for a deerxgrey for a long time.

  10. "Rowan" has amazed me and the lads that see her every week. Its about 2months since I got her.Recall is very good to her name or at distance a single whistle.Prey drive is incredible. She ran and caught her first rabbit after just two weeks of being around my long dog.Ran and turned her first fox three weeks after going out with our gunpack.Quiet in kennels.Never any mess.Travels fine in motor. No problem with other dogs or hounds.Hoping for her first fox between now and Xmas we are out a lot between now and then, plenty of opportunity.
