Picture the scene -Read this and mouth dropped ajar .Couldnt think of anything to say to pursuade this twat otherwise so will hand over to someone else .

been doing things this way for years mate only ever lost 1 dog he was working on his own and had to retire one so dont make differance wether doubled up or single it still happens to the best of dogs

    fraser

yes mate only on big earths though never had any probs at all just have to make sure your terriers get on together just if there is 2 in and they are both on in different places you have to dig twice witch we have done a few times some people dont agree but thats up to them everyone has there own ways

  6. Well I just read about someone having three dogs to ground................ :(

If the lad who posted is young & inexperienced then despite the fact that he has done wrong I can sort of understand ................ Hopefully he will take some advise & never use more than one dog at a time.......for a few reasons............1. Its f*****g dangerous for the dogs 2. If he's serious about earth work 2ing & 3ing terriers up will only lead to inferior dogs & possibly ruin potentially good workers............

On the other hand if he is someone who has had dogs a while then to do what he did & then come on here a post about it just shows hes a f*****g idiot..................

read it properly and theres nothing inferior about our dogs they all do there job and do it well if there on there own or doubled up

  7. just read the post & the replies, so i'll have a crack at clearing this one up... (don't eat me for this! )

Can't believe what i just read!ever heard of single handed workers.3 :censored: dogs to ground!!!!!!!!

doesn't say anywhere that 3 dogs were to ground. russells found the fox, 2 dogs went in on that particular dig, and Bizz has a new young'n who is taken along to other digs. probably to observe & get used to the sights & smells.

dont think im being a cu*t but do you always work two dogs to ground and have you ever had any problems

:icon_eek::icon_eek: Im not quite sure if I understand your post? Im pleased your patterdale appears to be working well  , but was there two to ground :cry: ? That might not be the best approach to use  .

as i read it, the second, more experienced dog went in to give the inexperienced new one a hand & to make sure things didn't get messy. and the russells where there to find & mark charlie.

please don't eat me. just clarifying, from what i read. might be horribly wrong, might not be. make what you will.

its fine mate your right only some people just read in between the lines he does now find and mark till he his dug out and we always use 2 dogs on big earths and never have any probs they work together fine if other people carnt get there terriers to work with each other it there prob
  8. i was given a 17 month old patterdale from a mate of mine about 3 months ago he bred it and a women just had it as a pet then got fed up with it i started taking him out after a week with a couple of working russels the first time just let him run with the russels and whenthey went to ground he didnt know what to doso wh

ilethe dogs were settleing i just sat near a hole with him with the russels baying he was keen to see what was going on with abit of coaxing he went in abit of a time after about half hour he just kept nipping in and out which was a good sign when we dug charlie out he had a good rag after a few digs like this he was staying longer under ground then about a month ago we were just walking around some new permision and he was off his lead then we saw a earth at the edge of this little cops so we said we wood just check the rest of the copsof course my dog was gone we found him in the earth baying like mad so we dropped my mates patterdale in just to make sure they never got together she was baying about 6 foot away from mineso got shovels out and dug to my dog who was on a dog fox so drawn it with lurcher he was strait back in now they were both together only 2 foot so dug down there was the vixen was dead good feeling first find for my dog been bang on ever since got a patterdale x laky 7 month old now alway take him out on our digs comeing on well bit of a header carnt wait till hes working 100% aswell

  9. Wonder if any of u terrier lads can help me out with a problem, I feel embarassed asking as Ive had terriers all my life, problem is my 18 month old jackie bitch, soon as I let her off the lead she buggers off, u would think she was on a mission, just goes in a strait line, oh she comes back with a lot of whistling and shouting, but by then theres nowt in sight, her sister is a different dog all together, works the bushes and never lets me out of her sight, cracking little dog, thing is the other is a better worker when u get her down to it, its no good clouting her when she does come back ( Idont believe in that anyway )or she'll think shes done wrong coming back, any ideas?, cheers.

try a remote training collar mate used to have a lurcher that kept doing that and after a few outings with the collar it was fine
