    If I may stick an ear in your discussion, in France, the waterfowl migration has started quite early and is also notably strong. Some geese were already seen flying to the south. Even a jacksnipe was observed in Normandy by end of August which is incredibly soon as the first ones are supposed to be seen in France by end of September. Concerning the pink footed geese, I have no point of view as they don't come to France.

    In France, hunters are used to share their bird’s observations after their hunting sessions. Most of the forums on the web have a special section for that. I was surprised the first time I came on this forum not to find anything that looks like “bird observation sharing”. Some posts give information but nothing structured in order to follow the game migration. Do you feel that this kind of information should not be shared by hunters?

    Very interesting to see how things are organised with guns in the UK ! In France, we don't have such a FAO organisation. We have to put the gun in a secured locked cupboard but it is still recent and lots of hunters don't. I have never heard any "cupboard control" in the past years. About 10 years ago, a law was voted to oblige every gun owner to go to the police in order to declare the gun. But at that time, lots of people didn't. Now, when you buy a new gun, it is automatically declared to the police by the gun seller. But it is not the case if you buy your friend's gun or find yo

    Hi, I don't see any of you using tungsten cartridge? They are very expensive (in France) but they are also very good. Supposed to be better than lead. Do you have them in the UK ?

    Hi I am a French wildfowler. In France, we still have "almost free" places where everybody may hunt. These are public lands managed by associations. You just have to pay an annual licence to hunt there but it is not expensive. I pay around 90€ / year to be able to hunt there from beggining of August to end of January. This is for instance the case for the bays of the river Seine, Somme and around the Mont St Michel.

    Hi, my name is Michael. I am 44, married with 4 children and a dog (épagneul Breton in French – I think that it is Brittany dog in English). I am French. I live and work near Paris. My favourite hunt is to run after snipes and woodcocks in Normandy (north-west of France) with my dog. My greatest pleasure is when my dog succeeds in pointing a snipe as I consider these birds as one of the most difficult to hunt. I also hunt ducks at night as we are allowed to do it in France.
