Hi, I was just surfing on internet and just came across this forum topic. I am an owner of this breed in its country of origin. Its native name is 'Kelb tal-Fenek' but later after exportation of this breed outside Malta it began to be known by its fans mostly dog show owners as pharaoh hound. Their Maltese name means 'the dog of the rabbit' as they are an excellent breed for hunting rabbits on our island. to be used for hunting outside Malta I have no experience.
