    I'm in the same boat mate, after a good book to get me started with some extra input. was looking at that ferreting essential guide book yesterday on amazon. think ill invest in it now.

    Hi Everyone. Brand new to ferreting and the whole hunting scene I'm currently ferreting a small piece of public land and desperate for permission. Only thing is, obviously Ive never walked up and knocked on a farmers door before. What do I ask? Do i take the ferrets with me or do you ask then come back the next day. Obviously in need of advice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    How else can you bring a jill out of season other than mating them with a vasectimised male or getting mated properly to take?

    How do you go about asking the farmer? Do you just knock on his door? I'm very new to ferreting and the whole hunting scene and done all my ferreting on the same old public land round the back of the cemetry. Desperate to get some permission but dont know what to say when the farmer opens his door.

    Cheers lads. Just been out to feed and water them there and only the one came out of the box. The other one came sneaking up behind me and I found her hanging half way out of the cat food tin haha. Aye was a good day in the end mate, could really do with getting some farmland permission. Theres a load of farms up my way aswel, feel a bit daft and uneducated in what to say, walking up to the farmers door for the 1st time. any words of advice would be a great help.

    Areet lads. Just joined and just started keeping and working ferrets, thought i'd introduce myself to yous. Ive got two young jills, bout 6 months old. Took one hunting Friday just gone, and we were getting absolutley nothing, morale was low and was close to quitting. We decided to net one last set, she was down there for ages and there were only two holes to the set. I thought I had lost her, so I goes down to the hole to call for her and a rabbit came bolting past my face and she came running out closely behind for the kill. A job well done and a bad day turned good. We both went back to car
