    Thats what i expected! Looked attractive in the magazine, i will have a look at meopta. Anyone rate MTC scopes? I spoke to a local rifle builder today who said for a budget scope they aren't bad at all.

    Im in the market for a scope for my .223 and came across the Hawke Endurance 30 IR SF which comes with a reticle designed for the tragectory of .223. Anyone got/tried this scope? My budget is about 300 golden tokens if anyone wants to suggest anything else suitable. Most shots taken around 150yards but occasional shots out to 300, most of this on the lamp after charlie.

    I have a ruger 10/22 and a cz 452 .17hmr both have their purpose. .22 have put many many rabbits to book and a few fox.It is a fun semi to shoot as well. The cz is mainly for fox as this is the biggest calibre allowed on my permission. It is a great little round and its quite amazing the power it kicks out. The .22 would be my all round rimmy of choice. Ben

    I only have an hmr as thats all thats allowed on the land because the land is small. I shoot a friends permission thats much bigger which is the problem. There is no guarantee where you will be when foxy turn up, big fields with no markers except for hedge rows. I will try all the above ideas and see what works best. I would go .223 anyday!

    Has anyone got any tips on judging distance when out lamping. As i shoot with a .17hmr effective range for fox is only about 120yards compared to 250 or so with .223. If using a bait station or high seat its not such a problem, but when your walking a field it can be difficult. TIPS PLEASE!

    i used some jacketed hollow point 17g last night and they were fine, its just ballistic tips it doesnt like from what i can tell.I must admit it could do with a clean as i have put around 200 rounds through without cleaning it. I will give it a good clean then try the ballistics again. If its still shite i wont bother with them! Cheers for the info

    No issues with that rich, I've had them out to 140 in the right conditions, but I am aware this already might be the start of a wind up again about the whole fox issue, and the 17, so dont bite! Wind up?Fox issue? only issue is foxes taking my bloody chickens!

    cant zero/wont zero, spits them all over the place. the remmington rounds i would have needed a 2ft board to catch the 5 rounds that were put through it, thats before i even changed windage or elevation on scope. hornady rounds wern't as bad as that.

    I usually use 20g full metal jacket rounds for shooting fox, but a friend said i should try using ballistic tip ammo because of their destructive properties. I cant get them to zero at all, they are 17g hornady rounds. I can instantly re zero with my normal ammo after ,so what can be causing this? I have also tried the 17g remmington ballistic tips with the same problem. Is it possible that my gun just dislikes all ballistic ammo? HELP!!!

    Monday i will be calling firearms to see what i am allowed, i might have had a stroke of luck today. Hopefully just sorted permission on 1300 acres of land, they couldn't say no to a rocket launcher on that!

    I currently shoot fox with .17hmr which is great at ranges up to the 100yard mark but feel i could take a lot more foxes if i had something with a bit more reach and a bit more lead. The only problem is i dont think the firearms officer will let me have a .223 on the land i currently shoot as its quite small. Which calibers are smaller than .223 that he might be persuaded with letting me have and will have the extra reach? Also with cost effective rounds? .204 ruger, .220 swift, .222, .22-250 ????????? i am also adding a high seat on the land.
