    Collie grey 13 generation

Just found out this is 2 of mine that I gave to a lad in Durham on condition that it comes back to me ..... but the dick decided that he would sell it to someone else and I didn’t even give him the paperwork with the pup but told the buyer that there was this and that in it anyway it’s got a good home now  ...... just goes to show what kind of people there are in the dog world

The first image is my mates First cross Bedlington Greyhound bred by Neil Beacon the most robust and best coated first cross I have ever seen.

    It is an excellent dog.

The second is my current first cross bred in Workington not as good coat as my mates but also an excellent rabbiting dog.

My mate is now bringing on a line bred collie dog which in its second season is now showing promise.

By his own admission he was disappointed with the collie cross last year but it looks like it is just taking time to mature and it is a different dog this year.

Bedlington first crosses which is the only percentage cross I have seen are a totally different dog in respect to starting work.

The ones I have been around all being dogs seem to be sorted the first season with such a high prey drive but also very biddable.

Kennelling is such a positive for me personally living around people with the first cross Bedlington greyhound.

I had  Heart Break Dog(Granitor Joker Lines) put down at just short of 14 and I never heard him bark ever and my current dog is 5 and he is the same.

My mate is an excellent dog trainer but by his own admission he has had to be more forgiving with the Collie Cross it being much more sensitive just the nature of a Collie.

It has surprised me watching the Collie Cross mature the time it has taken but I am sure it is going to make a good rabbiting dog it is just slow to mature.

CAN ONE OF THE MODS PLEASE PIN THIS TOPIC FOR ME. THANKS. :clapper:

  12. well i thought that i may aswell have my own say, i too have been in the longnetting game a good few years infact the first time i went out was the night that elvis died , i was brought up into longnetting as being the only way to catch rabbits, i can make a longnet & set one as good as the next man. All i can say is that what makes things easier is the future we have to look too, we carn't live in the past , don't get me wrong i love the old ways but you have to admit that the new basket systems are a lot faster & better, anyway get to the point there are a lot of defferent systems on the market, i've tried afew of them , one being amake shift 1 , one being brian 's the other being the masterhunter's well the best that i have used as gotto be the masterhunter's it's the quickest that i have tried

1 there is nothing to catch the net on no points or anything

2 the bag may make abit of noise but have you tried not making any noise walking across stubble

3 the poles go into the ground easy

infact i have used them in the daytime aswell as the nightime , both with very good results

all i can say don't pull anything down until you have tried it out & i don't mean give it 5 minutes get out there & give it a good go, the more you have ago the better things get, i have been using the masterhunters now for 18months so i think that i can honestly say that i have given it agood test

& all i can say is good luck to him for what he as done, that is making it easier for people that carn't longnet to get out there & try

  13. well duckwing them knives look great mate, they realy are top quality... are you sure these are the first that you have made, by the look of them you should be proud fella... welldone & good luck with future projects :clapper:
