  1. Right so it's been a long time since I've posted or even logged in here but thought I'd post , I lost my dog last year to what I can only guess was heart problems or taking a knock off the lamp , some of you may remember past posts about Benson (in particular the start of an obsession) I was devastated when he died being my first lurcher I had a strong bond with him as he taught me a lot and we went everywhere together . After he passed I got myself a bull whippet greyhound bitch who at 20 months of age was showing real promise but had no sense of self preservation and hit a tree flat out and broke her neck ! I left off on the lamping for a good while butt now my 3/8 5/8 bull x dog is 16 months old I've started going a lot more , he's coming on nicely and is showing real promise in the field . I'll be on here more and more as the season progresses which updates on how he's getting on .

    Cheers for reading atb

  2. Anybody on here near cwmbran want to go lamping ? I've got permission in a few tidy places but I'm not driving at the minute , if you've got transport I'll share costs and we can go to my ground , looking to make this regular thing so get in touch

  6. As you can guess ive managed to secure some good land to give the dogs some graft , im quite excited about it as its my first bit of tidy land and it is full of game , i work on the railway and have to deal with farmers alot to gain access to the tracks so hopefully i will be able to get myself some more in the near future as i am going to be doing alot of work in rural area's well into next year .

Im off down there in the morning to see exactly what im dealing with so ill do a write up when i get back tomorrow evening.

  7. My 4year old girl has been out with me a few times and loves it , my ex had a shock at parents evening when the teacher gave her pictures my girl drew and the teacher had written underneath "me and my daddy out with the dogs and ferret getting rabbits for our dinner , cause rabbits have meat inside and are yummy" lol

Not a looker but i dont care about what a dog looks like aslong as it works , he's now in his second season at 2 year old and grafts well , he will bush till he drops and is going to be entered to fox this season , hopefully he will work out , he is a game little fkr his size may be his downfall as he is a stocky built dog .

I know he isnt the type you lads are talking about i just felt like sharing lol

  9. Iknow you wasnt doing anything illegal but if your walking down a public road with terriers and a spade over your shoulder your asking for trouble.

if i had a full size roundnose and other tools i could see a reason for her to stop me , i had a mini roundnose spade which is about 23 inch long and is only good for ratting and ferreting when i want to travel light , imo its pathetic that the police dont know the laws they are ment to be enfforcing and get all their infomation from the media which is mostly anti bullshit
  10. Yeah mate keep me posted , it would be nice to hear about some russells grafting instead of black dogs ( nothing against patts btw lol )

Will do mate, still got my black ones kenneled up but fancy a change and I've got a plummer ordered for after christmas :boogy:

Atb with them mate im going to try my 2year old dog to fox properly this season fingers crossed he will do the job , if not my pup is out of good fox dogs ill try to get her going next year ,no garuntee's in this game but its in her breeding

    legal terrier work btw lol

  12. The pup did well mate fair play to her , she has only been out a few times as i dont want to rush things with her but she has got better every time , she started yapping on a hot scent today which i was happy with and she dug to a rat and nailed it , she is looking promising tbh

  13. Its a joke mate the conversation i had with her went on for ages and was pointless to say the least , i asked her why she thought she could accuse me of that and she said you got terriers and a shovel , how can we go about our day when we have to put up with tha ignorance its a load of shit

  14. Went out to do a bit of bushing and ratting today with my 2 year old dog and 5 and half month pup , i was walalking down the road by the canal and a copper walked upto me and said whats the shovel for ? Badgers isit !! If i said i was shocked it would be an understatement . I told her i was off to do a bit of ratting and bushiing thats why i had the mini round nose shovel . I then rather rudely pointed out that she had no legal right to be accusing me of such things while im walking in public with my dogs and quickly told her to check my dogs jaw for scars and that my other dog is under 6 months old and has only worked rats and cover a few times , she looked quite stupid for a minute or so then said you know quite a bit about it all to which i replied "i have to because you obviously have no clue about the law your supposed to be enforcing " she then made me wait while she did a pnc check and told me to go when my details checked out .

Ive now downloaded a pdf file of the hunting act 2004 to my smartphone for the future . This really pissed me off and i had to vent a bit lol

    Cheers Trinder

  15. sorry if im going of subject here but i went out with my 12 year old and 13 month old jrts the other day ferreting and when we got to the mountin it was lashing down so we went to the lower ground were we havent been for years to check some rabbit holes we came to 1 in a hedge and the old dog smelt it and walked away wile the pup was on the other side were unnone to me it had been dug out by a fox and she self entered and stayed for 2 houres before the fox either moved or bolted she was bayying the hole time but we had no shovel or coller as she never goes to rabbit and i was wonderig if there is anything that i can do to discurrage her from doing so ive been told not but just asking or am i better of buying a shovel and coller

get a good shovel and a collar mate if the dog has gone to ground and stayed it will probably do it again given the opportunity
