  1. I bought this gun brand new 35 years ago.It was my first gun I sold all my other because I didn't use them but hung onto this one.I bought it as 3/4 and full at the time.It shoots a very tight pattern belive me.My mates chock gauge says full and fuller,I have herd the same that baikel bores are tight but how can they be tighter than any othe 12 g I have never been able to understand. Thanks Graham.
  2. Thanks for the replys,so worth doing on my old gun then ,got to say I have alway favoured felt wads any way. Thanks Graham.
  3. Hi,I have just returned to pigeon decoying after 20 odd years.I have an old Beikle side by side which is as good as I can aford right now ,the gun shoots well enough and I am happy with it but the chockes are very tight what apears to be full and fuller using a gauge.Would it be finacily viable to have the chokes opend up and what would you take them to 1/4 and 1/2 or cylider and 1/4.I do like the option of a bit of range on the back triger and am prety used to shooting these tight chokes now. Thanks for any advice Graham.
  4. Ground starts about 20 yards behind me in the first picture and ends behind the fieldshelter come football net in the distance. That football net is a field shelter/barn,I don't think I would be applying for a FAC if I had kids running about playing football Thanks Graham.
  5. Hi,I am in Kent ,near canterbury. Thanks for the advice that is what I will do.Just tried ringing them no one is there until 12.as you can see from the pictures there are plent of big trees. If I sat up one near the byway I would be shooting away from that. Graham.
  6. The land the byway is to the right in the first photo http://s1211.photobucket.com/user/graham68j/media/SL380476_zps2e0f0837.jpg.html http://s1211.photobucket.com/user/graham68j/media/SL380475_zps8dae99ea.jpg.html http://s1211.photobucket.com/user/graham68j/media/SL380487_zpsa067c75b.jpg.html http://s1211.photobucket.com/user/graham68j/media/SL380481_zps1e4531d5.jpg.html
  7. That interesting you can't wind one up and then wind it back then.I have an air rifle that is easly tuned or detuned. So I was hoping to have that wond up to about 40ft/lb the price of a kit is only a few quid. And then buy either a 17hmr or 22lr.Crows and magpies are my big problem as are foxes.Getting close enough to magpies and crows with an coventional air gun is near on impossible, maybe if you have all day to sit in a hide, but then you will only get on or two they are so cunning, being able to take them at range from trees would be good. I have chickens, turkeys and geese. The crows and magpi
  8. Hi thanks for the replys,Why do you say stick with a sub 12 ft/lb air rifle. To be honnest a FAC air rifle would probably do most of what I need espcily if I could get a licence to shoot a 22lr or the 17hmr from a high seat. Graham.
  9. Hi thanks for the reply Celticrusader exactly as you say a air rifle for rats and birds out of trees.I think I'm airing towards the 17hmr for every thing else,I perticualy like the fact the bullet head break up on inpct with the ground.I have shot a .22 and was shocked just how much they ricochet off the ground. What advantages if any dose the .22lr have over the 17hmr Thanks Graham.
  10. Hi,I have got a six acere small holding, mainly poultry and sheep.I have been have a big problem this yeay with crows and magpies and of corse the old enemy Mr.Fox. I have a SGC but getting within range of these wiley creatchers is a night mare.So I was thinking of applying for a FAC. 1/Do I fill out and send off the form first or contact the police and get the land inspected. 2/there is a byway runs alongside my land and a foot path across the middle will this be a problem. 3/there is very little in the way of back stop on my land but the are several large Oak trees I could build I hide
  11. Hi,I hope I have got this in the correct section I would like a rough Idea on what a daystate Midas Huntsman with an all brass chamber is worth. Its been laid up in a storage container for years. The wood work is in good condition, and there is no rust its very dirty and needs a re seal.I was just after a rough Idea of its value now and after its been repaid I have no intention of selling. Sorry if this is the wrong section Graham.
  12. Un fortunately not,but wouldn't say no to sharing with Amanda for a while. Thanks Graham
  13. Thanks Moley I used to know a guy a bit closer than that I will see if he is still in buisness first. Cheers Graham.
  14. Hi Moley, that sounds realy good would that price inlude replacing all the seals.Where abouts are they I'm in mid Kent. Thanks Graham.
  15. Hi thanks for the replies guys, can't believe my Titan is still up there, she still holds pressure well and have tested on a guy from works chrono using HWS supperpoint at 11.48 ft lbs,I bet the tins of pellets I've got are over twenty years old too what pellet would you recommend now. The daystate has a swp3000 stamped on it it has a brass two stage trigger,I have just tried gassing it up it seems to leek from just about every conceivable place. When I say I was given this gun I spent several days clearing about 3 acers of land from trees and undergrowth.Admittedly I now have enough logs to g
