I'm looking for advice as to whether this is a good idea or not. I live in an area with an abundance of rabbits and jackrabbits, and the whole idea of hunting with dogs sounds fun. The only person with Lurchers I can find within a reasonable distance breeds for laid back pets.
So... I have a working bred collie, who is the one out of the bunch who would rather chase than herd. He is athletic and smart as hell, kills birds and rodents regularly, but just isn't fast enough to catch the jackrabbits.
