  1. Depends what your doing i.e if your doing a bit of ferreting and the odd nights lamping a good strong whippet would be ideal.

bushing, ratting and earth work you'll be looking at using a gd working bedlington. (Horses for Courses).

  7. Its got to be lurcher to lurcher for me.Though i had a saluki/grey first cross that wernt bad .I have never had mutch luck with lurchers with a lot of greyhound in them ie 3 quarter breds.Though some make very good lampers.

My mate runs a colliexgreyx salukixgrey, and it is 9 years old, and it still can knock over 20-25 rabbits in a night. It as great stamina, good retriever and quick recovery rate. And it as stayed sound for years. Dont think you get will many lurchers that ( can+want to) do that amount of work at that age. So in my book this is what i would call a(very good x) as a lamping dog.

  8. i own a few white white lakies.i work them hard during winter mths and started to show them in the summer, the question im asking is why when i put them in the rough russel class i hear the comments ;there not russels;.fair comments i know the breeding in mine and yes they are from lakeland blood ,so surely why dont show organizers have a class for white lakelands because most of the rough russels that i see at shows look to me like thers lakeland blood in them cos there a stronger dog altogether,so why dont your so called russel men be honest and admit the true blood in there dogs lines????

HI MATE ANY PUPS FOR SALE

  9. personaly i wouldnt let a digging dog chase rabbits mate get to be a bad habit seen it this year way a boy fae cumnock area let it of at the hole it pissed of chasing rabbits for a hour .i was well pissed off i would of chapped it on the head .how anybody can stand this is beyond me but hey everyone to there own.keep the dog to the job its ment to do .my dogs are in out on the lead dont let them run around .but thats me.

  10. I HAVE OVER 20 YEARS OF EXPERIANCE WITH LURCHERS AND THE BEST LAMPING DOG I HAD WAS A LITTLE BEDLINGTON WHIPPET 1ST CROSS VERY QUICK AND NIMBLE GOOD CATCH DOG.ALSO HAD A 3/4 GREYHOUND 1/4 COLLIE WAS GOOD ALLROUND DOG .BUT MY MATE HAD A DEERHOUND GREYHOUND X SULUKI WHIPPET BEST DOG I EVER SEEN ON RABBIT IN MY LIFE OUT STANDING IT WAS SERIOUSLY THE BUISNESS.NEVER GOT TO SEE THE DOG WORK AFTER 18 MONTHS DOG BROKE ITS NECK SADLY .I THINK THAT DOG WAS A 1 OFF IT WAS ELECTRIC. AS THE BOYS SAID IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE TERRAIN YOUR DOING THE WHIPPET BREAK TOES EASILY TO BLOODY EASILY.IF IT WAS ROUGH TERRAIN NEED TO BE SOMETHING WITH GOOD FEET BEARDED COLLIE GREYHOUND ECT BUT HEY ONLY MY OPINION MATE GOOD LUCK.

  11. IF IT WERE TO HIGH A PROTEIN THE DOG WOULD ITCH .CHECK SEE IF THE AREA WHICH ITS LOSING HAIR IS RED AND INFLAMED IF SO YOU COULD HAVE SARCOPTIC MANGE CHECK THE DOGS TUMMY FOR YELLOW BLISTERS THATS A SURE SIGHN ITS GOT IT .AS FOR THE PROTEIN MAKE SURE ITS PROTEIN LEVELS ARE NO HIGHER THAN 22% .BEEF AND BROWN BREAD YOU CANNOT GO FAR WRONG WITH THAT MATE.

    GOOD LUCK.
