Footpaths wont be a problem make your feo aware of them at the end of the day its you who squeezes the trigger be safe

what is the prefered calibre then guys,.?
if iwas to send in for fac i would put down a 22lr and 17hmr for fox, would that be suitable
Nope need centre fire.
Not necessarily true, it depends on the firearms dept that he deals with. Some will pass .17HMR for fox outright, some for "opportunistic fox" only, some consider it included when specifying "Vermin" on the FAC (in which case it could be an implicit approval for .22LR), others will treat it separately and put "Fox AND Vermin"
If you're considering HMR for fox, I'd speak to your FEO first and get his thoughts (as they do vary from area to area). I think most people on here however would suggest a small centrefire for a dedicated foxing rifle, regardless of what your own FEO might allow.
defo depends on force ive got fox on hmr mate in next county cant have fox its a joke

well said mister if only everyone was on the same levelThis could easily end up with who has the biggest P***k......POWER wise they both have plenty a long way off, by best with .22lr (sub sonic) is a baby bunny at 192 yards and with the HMR 258 yards (17g V-Max)...so far!
Fact is we all like the long shots but someone will always do better, no sooner had I hit bunny at 258 and was talking to a pal, all pleased with myself, and he told me his best was 285 yards.
The reality is that shots come along from time to time if you shoot enough.
Simple fact is, even having made these shots, I suggest the .22lr can only be considered a 100 yard tool and the HMR a 150 (JUST MAYBE 175) yard tool! MAXIMUM.
If I go out looking for longer ranges I would not take these calibres!
