  1. Its not a case of proving anyone wrong Dan just pointing out the facts , to the general public. "Are you man enough to forget about the age old situation and actually start concentrating on using your knowledge to benefit the breed as a whole? Instead of using what you know to prove people wrong all the time?" Before your time Dan which is not so long ago my pride was swallowed for the sake of the breed but was kicked yet again in the teeth. As far as being man enough..remember you bit our fingers to the tune of (£176.00!) I have and there is no need to concentrate on using m
  2. To be honest I couldn't give a toss about reasons for the oc. nor can I give a toss about what is and what isn't produced as a result of it. It has been done and in the past. Can't be changed. Why can't we concentrate on what can be done for the future instead of going over the same old. Glenn I believe I have asked you before if you are man enough. Are you man enough to forget about the age old situation and actually start concentrating on using your knowledge to benefit the breed as a whole? Instead of using what you know to prove people wrong all the time? You can ignore this/me. Fine b
  3. THE GENPOOL IS NOT LIMITED IT IS STILL VIABLE AS LONG AS OWNERS COMINUICATE . I agree. However, the communicating bit is proving to be a bit of a problem and for me is the plummer terriers main downfall. The people involved are only too happy to keep using the dogs from within their circles. As you said yourself it is a problem when people are unable to use the correct stud dog.. there are various reasons for this ranging from those who will not travel. Those that cannot bring themselves to use some other animal purely cos it was bred by the wrong person and those who just have to use the
  4. IMO no he wasn't inventing a whole new type of dog, he was inventing a new type/breed of terrier that is essentially a terrier. Expecting something extra special is just not realistic is it? What do you want it to do - catch and cook your dinner? Be handy wouldn't it! Fair enough. Again never did I say he improved on anything. I am not arguing anything you said in your last post.Just that surely that is the aim when you are breeding - to improve. Hence anything can be improved upon. Imo no one will ever know if he did improve the working ability and plummer is not the first or the last to
  5. YET TO SEE A TERRIER WITH A BETTER NOSE????? MAYBE YOU AIN'T SEEN THAT MANY TERRIERS?? And maybe he has..... This is the thing that also stands out for me too. Some but not all plummers are very houndy in their approach to hunting. Some of the dogs are more houndy in appearance as well. I have a male plummer here that for me has an outstanding nose. The best i have seen on a terrier, and anybody who witnesses it says how good it is. I had the chance to run him on a hunt with a pack of harriers the other week on a stretch of river. I was a bit apprehensive at first but he didn't dis
  6. there seems to be a serious problem on this forum with people not reading what is being said. No one said the plummer has a superior nose to ALL other terriers. All i think is being said is that GENERALLY the nose is very good. Generally being quite a significant word here. I ran my dog on a small mink hunt on a nice quiet trout stream that we waded down, so yes it was intimate enough to see how my boy worked, I am not blind nor am i full of waffle. You obviously were there on the day! Again who said just because plummers have hound blood in them they will have a better nose than other

  8. Bye steve. for the record have re read it and you call saying a bitch is a brood so much so it is cringe worthy is hardly positive. Not exactly conducive to keeping the thread nice is it. especially when your facts and numbers are wrong. Sorry mate all i have done is question this opinion of yours and anybody with half a brain can see that you were having a pop at how the bitch has been used. This you are wrong to do as you are not being honest about the situation the threads about plummers on here are always the same. you and jamie just as bad. the threads always go down hill and i haven
  9. You are right stormyboy. I have said all I am going to say on the matter. I never come on here for this very reason but just got lured in because of the wrong things being said about a bitch I happen to like a lot.... It serves no purpose.
  10. As i said deluded. First you mentioned that the bitch had spent most her life a brood. Then you said this: "Agree with you there and the title brood bitch makes me cringe but thats what she has been" imo the word cringe speaks volumes. When i unfortunately involved myself in this thread i asked you what constitutes a brood bitch to try and understand why it made you cringe. I also wanted to know why you felt the need to point this out in a thread that was originally positive. Fair enough if you was saying she was a brood in a positive sense, I would had said nothing. I still can't see the prob
  11. fireman you really are deluded. The moment you started talking about and labelling jay a brood bitch etc you turn things negative. You can't help it. On one hand you say the bitch is a nice one but you can't just leave it at that and have to be negative about her and the life she has.. You can't just say yeah that charlie is some dog and yes his dam is nice too. There is always a but and the but in this case is pure fabrication with an agenda on your part. You don't have to tell me how many pups jay has produced I know and it certainly aint enough for you to start talking and bringing peop
  12. Sorry to hear of your loss Steve. He looked a nice dog that was capable. I have his half bro here and wouldn't be without him. I ask fireman who has labelled the bitch a brood - what constitutes a brood bitch? Jay has not been bred from in 15 months and prior to that i think had only been bred from once by her owner. Her previous owner never had her long enough to breed masses from her either... It sounds to me like you are still not over your probs with her now owner and are still looking at getting at him through the plummer terrier by making inaccurate statements about certain dogs and
