    I'm not denying that you offered to run the race later in the day, very gentlemanly of you, and that it was graciously declined. That isn't the point in question. The point I am trying to make, and I think you will agree, is that I feel it could have been run slightly better on the day, both with a greater welfare to the dog and to improve the racing that a lot of people travelled great distances for. Can I just add I think you dog was a real cracker, and should do well if he's has that speed at a relatively young age.

    I must say that I could not for the life of me understand the judging on the day. The dog that was pulled out of the final, having previously run two races back to back, could only jog in a straight line in the final of his card (he was fried!!) yet was given the win despite the loser running the course and stayed with the lure. Even the slippers were gobsmacked at the decision!! I know that the the judge is an experienced lurcher man (I do not know him personally), which surprised me even more. What are the rules, just out of interest? Can I also add a comment to the organisers. Harry

    My lad is a first cross, from a whippet over beddie. At 19" tts he aint too big, but in the rough stuff there isn't much that will keep up with him. As previously mentioned, adding the beddie adds a litttle bit of terrier 'fire' and determination the mix. Extra coat is a benefit and I have yet to put a coat on him in the coldest of winter days, though snow balled feet can be a problem.

    What height is he, around 21" tts? He pretty much looks like the classic bed/pit, along with my wheaten Lemmy. Thats why I'm thinking Sid has something else thrown in there. It would be interesting to have a Jeremy Kyle version for dogs, just so you could have a DNA test done at will :D Cheers for the comment about Lemmy, he is a real true pocket rocket!!

    That is what my instinct says, as he seems to have a little 'extra' when he has opened up! Cheers for the comments guys, first impressions is that he has a good eye, and fast to learn, so will be interesting to see how he develops

    I kind of guess this is a bit of an introduction too seeing as this is only my second post, but I'm interested to hear your thoughts on my new lad. He is around 15 month old, 23" tts and currently just under 15kg (he definitely needs feeding up a little). I've been told he is a first cross beddie whippet, but my minimal experience suggests to me that he is too tall for a first cross and I feel he may have a little grey in his make up - does that sound about right or can first crosses attain that height?
