  1. I have and use a furminator... but not for stripping the topcoat. Strip the topcoat by hand or with your stripping knife if you must... the furminator is used to rake out loads of soft undercoat. I have terriers that have light or moderate undercoat and don't need much raking.... but I have some rough coats with mountains and mountains of undercoat.... I personally like the furminator with them.... after I have stripped them down a weekly raking with the furminator helps the harsh top coat come in nice and tight. At least that has been my experience. There are fine tooth stripping knives
