  1. Hi

I'm selling my air rifle as I need to raise some cash :-( it a BSA multishot with tasco 4x12x50 scopes also gun slip charging bottle adaptor and guncase silencer and a couple packs of pellets. I'm looking for £420 . Buyer must collect from Herefordshire I will travel to meet within a small radius

    which bsa multishot mate?

  2. Here's the problem I have, im not good with words so bear with me :)

When I slide the bolt action forward then push down to engage or lock the bolt whatever you call it, there seems to be very little resistance holding the bolt handle down the slightest touch by the lamp battery cable ect wil nudge it into the loose position and when fired the bolt comes back resulting in a miss fire.

    It happend twice on friday.

Can anyone kno if its posible to tighten this up and how to do it?

    Cheers

    .ste.

try putting a new oring on the bolt shaft or a thicker one if it still has one.

this helps cusion the pushing forward of the bolt to action and also puts some tension on the bolt when locked down to help keep it in place.

  3. LOL this is getting better than East Enders

    Ding ding :boxing: round 1.

Seriously i think its better if the Modarator removes the post then everyone can move on, as this as gone on now too long.

    Si

now there speaks the voice of reason. :notworthy:

i agree it isn't going anywhere fast and this will be my last contribution to my thread. :tongue2:

  4.

i hope thats aimed at pointer phantom because these days this section is my main section.

Damn, I gotta stop pressing the "+" button when wanting to reply thats 3 you've had from me 1 for a good post  and two by accident

Perhaps it was Pointer or someone else who claimed the 19 inches in length :hmm: My mistake and I offer my sicere appologies if that is the case

Regarding the above statement; its aimed at anyone who comes in here to cause trouble or offence to people and those grumpy gits that just want to claim they are better than anyone else and want to put other people down

I expect others (as do most on in this section) to be polite, helpfull to anyone and everyone they can; Willing to both teach and learn just like most of us are and to encourage other people to do their very best when shooting; be it for sport (paper punchin) or pest control

We are probably the very best section on the entire board and are very much self policing :gunsmilie:

We try to make members who just like to "Drop in" feel welcome, but a good percentage do nothing but slag us off either in here or in their primary interest section. Whoever reads that statement and takes 'personal offence' to it is probably the the type we don't want in here, it is their own concience that makes them take offence ;)

If people don't want to "play nice" or be helpful and encouraging to others then they should take themselves out and not call around again until they do

    Phantom

    respect is earned mate.

there are a number of people who i take my hat off to on this section who obviously know a damn sight more about airgun hunting that myself and who i whole heartedly respect.

then there's the other type who do more waffling than hunting.

  5. hi just started goning shooting again since i was young and thinking of buying a faclon fn19 with scopes and silencer for £240 can someone help and tell me if this is a good buy and any downfalls with these guns

if its all in good nick then thats a good buy.

the fn19 is a very accurate, reliable and simple precharge.

  6.

    Hi Lads

Someone I know has a BSA Goldstar, he paid £20 for it but needs a new magazine.

What are these rifles worth? he offered it me for £50.

Where would I get the magazine from?

for 50 quid its got to be worth it

I suppose it is, but only if i can get the part for it. I could possibly have one machined if he's still got the broken plastic mag. :)

the goldstar mag is the same as the old superten mag so shouldn't be hard to find.

you could even try john bowkett,he's local to you and is the BSA guru.

  7. well he looks a beauty si.

just the type i'd like if i were after another terrier.

i think i'd like one a little smaller though but certainly that stamp.

if you ever come back to catterick maybe we could have a look out with gun n' dog and a bit of crack thrown in.

  8. Hi i just thought i would just show to some of the disbelievers and to back up Si's claims, I'm just a humble pig farm manager trying to keep the rat population down.I only started shooting early this year and still learning the art of air gun hunting but this is starting to sound who has the biggest d**k, i would welcome anyone to come over to help especially h&h, ratting is good fast action fun . :)

    Well said Mark :notworthy:

Have you also noticed that no matter how well we treat people from the other sections, they are always trying to get one up?

Perhaps they should go back to their primary interest section where they could take said biggest up their rump

  10. FAO Pointer.

This dog will take anything legal including fox with no problems.

It loves rats and squizzers :whistling:

It can be evil when its working and has the confidence of a pitbull.

Festa, Garfield and Reggaeman have all seen him in action working when ive had him with me shooting ;)

    Si

thats a very handsome terrier si.

    how big is he?

  11. body circumference and length are un related in an adult rat.

just because you see a big fat rat does not mean its any loger than a lean one.plus seeing a rat and knowing how long it actually is a very different matter.

the only way to know the length of a rat is with a tape measure, not guesswork.

i'd advise the rat being dead before you attempt to measure it.

So how do you know that your biggest rat is 19 inches long when you say

never really thought about measuring the rats i shoot mate,i'm too busy counting the amount

Tell you what we'll have to ! Lets go by Bag Weight, like we do when fishing

Get your fishing scale ready :feck:

    Phantom

so where exactly do i say that 19 inches is my biggest rat fella?

  12. I've only managed to get one rat on film, nice shot it was too  Dillan wanted to go for a fag break and as I was around his side of the farm (and it's his permission) it would have been rude not to let him go for a break.

His video camera is his NV unit :gunsmilie: and the results of it are pretty bleddy good :boogie:

Its actually quite difficult to shoot using a camcorder at waist level as your scope

Still the shot was nice, right between the eyeballs as it popped it nut out of a broken drain pipe :D

H&H, I only measured that rat because someone mentioned the size of them growing to 19 inches were the biggest ones they have seen. I've seen em much bigger at the pig farm, but other places that I have seen them, they dont grow anywhere near that size.

That big fecker I popped that went down out of site had the body circumferance of Dillans big lamp on his HW100.

I'm sure if I had managed to recover that fecker, it would have been over 20 inches. Honestly some of the big ones are so heavey they litterally "Waddle" and can barely lift themselves off the ground. I don't know how they manage to climb verical walls into the roof and on top of the roof, but they do!

One day, either Dillan will get one of those big feckers on video (he shoots there more often than I do) or I'll get one on still photo (with tape to prove lenght) Until then, I'll just say, keep at the vile disease ridden vermin

  13. Cheers Half for the nice comment about my video clips  ,

I too like a crack and a laugh buddy  .

Believe me though buddy that there are a lot of lads on here that are also out, and doing what they say they are daily and weekly  .

To be honest I dont need to see photos from them, or feel that i have to prove to other people what ive achieved when out shooting has i know my own and their capabilities, as ive shot with many of the regs on here on a number of occasions, paper crunching, metal target shooting and hunting all the UK vermin species by a few.

The lads are pure quality and a pleasure to spend time with shooting and it has paid me to spend time with them as I have learnt loads from them while hopefully also passing on something too.

As you will know its not all about the big bags of this and that, its about getting out and enjoying yourself, doing your thing and spending time with quality mates  .

Oh before I forget, the real reason that there was no photo of all the rats together in one pile is this:

We shot loads in the night till about 2AM and picked up a lot of bodies but couldnt find all that we shot, we put all the rats in one area and Mark the Farm manager was going to look for the rest in the morning at work.

He found loads of the ones we missed (pick up missed) in the night and went to place them with the other dead ones knowing that we were also shooting that night to and it would make a really awesome picture.

The problem was though a fox of some other carnivore had got in the farm and wiped out the dead ones  only leaving 1 or 2 mangled bodies.

That night we had another good night and shot lots more retrieving quite a few but not all till the morning when again Mark found tonnes more.

So thats why there wasnt a huge photo shot, shame really but the fox or what ever it was, was really happy

    ATB

    Si

that fox probably died the next day of lead poisoning the amount of pellets in his belly ;)

    good shooting zini mate.

  14. Oh I forgot to say mate,

Well done on the 100 plus rats you shot in the last 2 weeks.

You should go to Newbottle Farm mate if Mark ever invites you to shoot there for him.

    We managed well over 100 + in just 2 nights :tongue2: .

Didn't retrieve all the bodies though, probably only about 93 if I remember on that occasion, damn :feck:

    Atb

    Si

93 and no picture zini :D yes i like a bit of crack as much as the next man

no mate i don't claim to be any kind of airgun hunting expert and i certainly no doubt have a lot to learn but one thing i do is i get out there and DO IT instead of talking about doing it and making unsubstantiated claims of what i have and haven't shot.

present company excluded of course. ;) i KNOW you're out there doing it mate, regularly because i've seen your video clips and very good they are too.

  15. so what exactly is your recovery rate mate?

As most of mine are shot at the far end of the pens that we are not allowed to enter or along the (what I affectionately name the R1 Highway) guttering between the Fattening sheds and the Farrowing Shed, its very low :(

Going by the number of pellets left in my jacket (I always start with 40 for the PCP) after last night, I had 30 shots, I deffinately missed 6 of them :icon_redface:

    Recovery was very poor :icon_redface:

Dillan; (after we sorted out a problem with his 100 began to bag up again), I don't know how may he shot, but he had a fair few judging by the multiple blood splatter marks around a couple of the open drains

The Farm manager is well chuffed with our efforts :boogie:

He's the one who goes round with the propper PPE collecting the bodies we leave in the pens.

I can't be assed to do a seperate thread, so heres the pix of the few recoveries for you. You will notice the smallest is a little 'flat' looking, that is the one that went under my right size 10

    Just under 18.5 inch

Now can I have the 2nd SP back please as I hit the "+" by accident

  16. I find these rat posts really cool.

I'm not very experienced when it comes to rat shooting, its been a quick and steep learning curve this Summer just gone for me.

Only normally done a bit here and there but not loads, but I'm with Tony here.

Out of the ones I shot Summer just gone and that was lots I only probably managed to collect maybe 50 to 70 percent of them due to different reasons.

Some may say that if I didn't collect the bodies then it doesn't count, well that's fair enough but I know that when I put 16 grains of lead in a rats KZ it's dead body collected or not.

Anyway just got to say rats are now my favourite air gun quarry, it's addictive shooting.

    Si

well there's one thing we can agree on,rat shooting is adictive

i personaly find shot rats that aren't picked up promptly in pig pens don't need picking up next day as the pigs eat them.
