  1. why is yours ripped? Measure it in inchs. I may have a spare one, not sure but its worth a try pal.

    Hi thanks for your reply

I am not sure how the Bivvy door plastic was damaged its got rips in it all over.

The Bivvy seems in good condition apart from this.

I will try to attatch some pics for you.

The plastic on the door is measured from the outer stitch marks.

Height 37 and three quater inched.

The width is 29 and three quater inches.

    MANY THANKS

my hen 8 the male will be 4 next year...

just want a young hen out of her, but wat size of avirey wud i need for harris hawks anyone got any pics of their breedin avirey..

    Hi mate

I think it may be easier and cheaper to just go out and buy a Female Harris hawk rather than to build a avery and breed from your pair.If you look around there are many good Harris hawks bred from good blood lines available that are very under priced in my opinion.

I wonder why you want a young Female Harris hawk when your current Female is only aged eight years. If you are a falconer you should have many years of enjoyable flying yet to enjoy from her.

In my opinion i would look at all the adds that are about with young Harris hawks for sale before thinking of breeding.

  4. Starting a thread to keep track of the progress with my first hawk. After reading up on Harris Hawks for more or less a year i decided to take the plunge. Built the mews and weathering aprox 2-3 weeks ago got it all finished its around 17ft x 12ft and takes up most of the garden. Decided i wanted a female, finaly went to see one at a breeders in West Yorkshire left a £50 deposit and picked her up today. Fetched her home, cast her and fitted all the equipment, anklets, jesses ETC. Then weighed her and she weighed 2 Pound 6oz 1/4 at 22 weeks old. Shes a big un

Let her go, tryed to sit her on the glove but wasnt having any of it. Bating, screaming and hanging upside down like a monkey it was mayhem

Spent the next 5 hours just getting to know each other and used to her new surroundings. By 6pm she was a totaly different bird, sitting steady on the glove looking around and letting us touch her feet after after about 4 hours of manning :clapper:

Heres some pictures from the mews, at the breeders and at home now. ;)

Nice looking bird mate handy sized set of feet.Do you have a mentor?

Good luck with her Some times the name comes later as the bird develops its own characteristic.

  5. how you been getting on mate....... any joy???

    hows that jill doing darryl???

Poley seems to be coming round a little but still tries to have a go.....but that albino is being a right little witch......fed them a full belly of fresh raw meat, left them for an hour or so while I painted the fence she took a good hold of me today after trying the lemon juice trick....tried to ram finger across her jaw but she just kept munching......bloody claret everywhere..... I hope she's gonna take some perseverance......

any other cures would be most welcome

I wonder if you only handled her straight from the cage would help.If you could hold her in a way that she could not turn to bite you gently stroke her then put her back in the cage after the handling session. Then repeat the process Maybe after a while she would get use to you holding her and build up trust.

One thing for certain them bites must be very painfull not a habit for your ferret to get into and must be also making you increasingly nervous of handleing her.GOODLUCK MATE

  6. This is a joke thread right????????

No not a joke mate never had to use it before switched it on as ferret had killed managed to locate the ferret ok.

I have never used a locater before this and there are many very experienced people on here who use these locaters regularly who are more than willing to offer advise.I thought maybe there is a right and wrong way to use the locater.

    Thanks for the advise chaps.

  7. I wonder do any forum members have experience in using the mk1 deben ferret finder.

I used my mk 1 tday it located my ferret with no problem but was wondering are you meant to turn the locater down to the lower settings as the signal gets stronger.
