Just going back a few paces here. Hingindolie can you tell us who has given you permission to shoot deer out of season and at night?? I was under the impression that the landowner had to have taken all measures possible to prevent the deer from eating the tops off the trees before being granted permission to shoot out of season and at night time - sounds like he failed to put in high enough tree guards for these small deer. Or is all that you have written all a wind up?!! No not at all. The land is bordered by M.O.D. land which is seething with deer as no-one is allowed near the pl

What country are you in?? 22-250 will kill a Roe easily in any country but is still not legal in England and Wales. What is the B******t about bigger calibres at night and what rational has been suggested for this. Do you have a licence for .. Night shooting? Out of season shooting? Who granted it??? Yours curiously..... Sorry mate but its law here in Scotland. The local firearms officer was present at a meeting with landowner plus a member of the forestry commision. everything went well and the only question that came up was about night shooting and the legal requir

I agree that the 22/250 is a great all rounder and for Roe its been brilliant for me but the law tells me I have to go up to 243 for night shooting. I dont mind in the slightest.

Lucky me but there has been 5000 saplings planted and the heads are just coming out of the protective sleeves. The Roe are having a banquet.

Hi, Been taking Roe ( in season ) for a few years now with a Tikka 22/250 with no problems whatsoever. Great stopping power. The good bit is now that I have been granted permission to take out a few out of season due to extensive sapling damage. It took a lot of persuasion and visits to the area. All set now to get out lamping with the beasties being no farther than 120 yds. but have been told that ( and I have complied) I must use a higher calibre rifle for night shooting. I do not have a problem with it as a 243 is now winging its way to my gun cabinet but I am curious to know ot

Scotland and now your probably going to tell me I need lessons on what to shoot Roe with. You really are the business aye. NO that's why I asked what part of the country you are in, 22-250 is more than capable of stopping Roe deer (and reds for that matter) but there are legal issues of course with certain calibres, certain deer and certain regions of the UK!! Ok Ive changed my mind and I think I quite like you now ( tenacious begger that you are ). We have had good tongue in cheek banter and i know its time to fess up. In honesty i am totaly ignorant of air guns of any descript

Only asked for advice on air guns. did not ask to be insulted. Dont worry wont ask in this section again. Insulted???? You asked for advice, i gave it, I apolagise if it wasn't the advice you were looking for but your options are very few. I suggest next time you should ask for the advice that you want to hear, rather than what other people deem to be good advice. Stalking lessons were suggested by yourself infering that my stalking skills were inadequate and now you wish to make something of my integrity also . The advice I was hoping for was that someone may tell me

Thanks, Safety not a problem. They just will not allow us to use a 22lr and feel happy if we use the term Air gun. There are no restrictions put on us about how powerfull they are. We take all precautions throughout the area where we dont only clear rabbits but use 22/250 on foxes and Roe deer and .243 on Reds. we are extremely safety concious at all times. Regards Hing.

An air gun thats almost as good as a .22lr would do the biz as the Coucil would be happy. They are only dictating because they can. Longnetting is what we recomended but the local animal welfare plonkers are on the council and they seem to know better than me how to deal with the little varmints. ( varmints being the rabbits and not what should be shot........ Councilors.)
-
Council dictated no nets, ferrets, gas, poison, bombing only Air guns but over 12f/lbs is not a prob. Can put it on my firearms cert. Council would only care that it was an airgun.

could do with a little more info on why the ranges are 100+ yards Tried getting closer with ordinary air rifle but 40 yds and they are off and dont come back in numbers. 100yds and I can pop all night with no problems.

Hi all, need help. Just been given a contract to kill what seems like a few thousand rabbits on some playing fields next to a golf course that I already control rabbits on with a 10/22. Problem is that the playing fields are Council property and will only let us use air guns but, the catch is its all at around 100yd+ range. I have never used or owned air so what would you guys recommend. Cheers Hing.
