Do any of you insure your gun dog? If you do what company/s do you use and how much does it cost and what does it cover you for? Cheers

been speaking to a friend of mine now and he has advised me to get a metal one from cainine kennels. He says a wooden one will get chewed to bits.

i am worried that a 10ft x 4ft kennel/run will be to small for a lab, it will be in it most of the day while i am at work except weekends, it will be walked morning and night. what do people think?

ok the kennel i am looking at on ebay is shiplap pannels, not tongue and grooved. Shiplap will be ok wont it?

Who does everyone insure their dogs with and what are you covered for? also what dog have you got and how much do you pay a month/year? Cheers

yeah zap i can see where you are coming from, but it this a to good opertunity to turn down, plus i been told labs are easier to train than spaniels. and as it is my first dog im thinking this is the best bet.

well, things may have changed as of today, maybe for the better, i have been speaking to someone who knows a bloke who live in my town and he has said that he is getting ready to put his lab in for pup and she is in season. This lab is a very good dog and has just recently won a field trial championship and the dog has also won tropheys, so i know it will be a pedigree and good working parents. He has said he will be looking for £450 to £500. So it looks like a lab is on the cards.

right cocker or springer i would be very happy with either, not really after a lab rob as im not very keen on them as a gun dog i prefer the spaniels.

i like all of them dogs , does your cockers have trouble picking male birds up ie. ducks and phesants? Cheers

how old is your dog? and is that fully grown?

so what will the difference be between a pedigree show dog and a pedigree gun dog? Anyone any pics o their fully gown springer gun dogs?

how many times a day would a springer need a walk? Is there 2 kinds of springers as a lad i go beating with has a little springer and someone i know had a springer and it was rather large. Thanks.

im based in cheshire mate, thanks for the offer but i have yet to buy my kennel which is going be a couple of weeks of yet.

ah ha i have just emailed the bloke on ebay and he has got back to me saying that the base is actually 3 metres but with the over hang of the roof it is about 10ft, so i can fit the 10ft one on my base yippie. So are they good quality kennels then dogga? did you have them come and erect it for you?

afraid them kennels are 10ftx4ft i cant fit that size on the space i got, i could go for the 8ftx4ft one that they do or get a 8ftx5ft one i seen on ebay. yeh i have got the DVDs on my crimbo list for santa LOL, i cant wait for it now

ok i have decided on getting a cocker. So what kind of things shall i be doing with the dog for the first couple of months. I have never owned a dog before so not sure on what i should do with it etc etc, The dog will be living outside in a kennel.

As i went beating on saturday and it was a wet day as it rained, it rained and it rained somemore, my waterproof trousers are getting abit old i have decided to get myself somemore, i was just wondering what other people have and if they are any good? I dont want to spend ££££ on them. Cheers
