Had Hazel out Wednesday.. No joy on the bunnies made contact with one but couldn't keep hold.. Back out Thursday but wind put a halt to any hunting so just done some recall training
Nice to see your harris working with a pointer.. Mines never worked with one and not sure if she could.. She screams at our house dog our poor staffy!.. I've got a good set of working ferrets to keep the quarry coming for mine
There's plenty of rabbits where I go like pointer.. One bit of land I go on got hammered with mixy this season mind.. Sets that where stuffed last year are empty now.. Rabbit corpses all over keeping the local buzzards nice and full up
Back out Wednesday the 23rd with hazel at her lowest weight of 2lb 0.8 and she was electric catching two rabbits.. Happy with her progress.. I've got some videos but not sure on how's best to upload them
Back out the following Sunday..The 11th. Hazel didn't lose her crop fully from the Friday so was a touch over weight but she still had a go nailing one rabbit but because she was heavy still after this friday she lost her interest and was to busy messing around up trees..
With her moult finally over!.. finally got her out flying free Friday 9th all be it a little unfit and stubborn out of the trees.. But after some good chases and near misses she gets her reward with this hen pheasant..
Few shots from the end of last season with Hazel.. This was my first season with her, she's a 10yr old FHH.. She's a exceptional rabbit hawk.. Looking forward to my second season with her.. She should be ready back end of this week..
