TBF said much the same a couple of months back, John. Said he was going to make it a personal thing of his to hammer those posting " Wanted " and " For Sale ". Last that was said about it. Prior to that, I believe it was Crow who blew a gasket about it. Nothing changed then either, of course.

Well that's the idea Ditch - 3 step plan. Recommend, Mandate, Enforce.

 

You have to give people fair warning through - I don't believe I can just wake up one morning and start deleting posts because I've just thought of a new 'rule'.

OK - I have spent a few hours today modifying the recent topics in 'Buy, Sell, Swap' to match the rules I proposed. This gives you an idea of how the section could look.

 

I've added a poll to find out whether you think it's makes a difference or not.

well if I wanted to bend democracy to fit my purpose I s'pose I could claim a result in my favour at this point;

 

38% want offending posts deleted and 33% want warnings. Only 29% want the status quo

 

However we've only had 21 votes out of 231 hits and 1171 people on line today, so this clearly isn't much of an issue to the membership at large.

 

So I think it's best I just forget about it. Thanks to those who expressed a view

Come on, that's a bit harsh.

This is not my forum and I cannot just go making up rules and imposing them just because I am a Moderator. I believe that some very simple changes would make the Sell/Buy section much better and a few people have expressed a similar view. But when it comes down to it even now there are only 55 votes in total and only 41 people out of 1200 who think this is an issue. Based on that yours and mine is a minority view Ditch.

 

I do and will enforce rules but I have to be honest I am struggling to find where any Buy/Sell rules are documented - apart from 'personal details' there are none pinned in the section. Until such times as there are rules to enforce the best I can do is try and generate enough public support to give me a mandate to introduce some.

 

The purpose of my comment that you highlight above was to say "look you appethetic lot, if you don't support change you won't get it and don't come moaning about the state of things later". It doesn't mean I've given up
