It is genuine Eddie, I believe it was initiated by a young apprentice Gamekeeper in the face of yet another petition from the usual gang of militants trying to ban DGS (I think the last one is the third, Packham, Avery and other assorted anti-shooting militants). On the plus side Parliament recently debated the most recent 'ban DGS' petition (as it reached over 100,000 signatures) and it was thoroughly routed. If you've got an hour spare I thoroughly recommend having a read through the debate transcript, it's a refreshing condemnation towards those who do not understand the benefits shooting and moorland management have to the wider ecosystem. As you'd expect the antis are currently preoccupied with assorted dummy and toy throwing contests on social media.

It's unfortunate that the 'support driven grouse' never got anywhere near the support of the petition to ban it, as the responses on here reflect. It's the thin edge of the wedge, whether you shoot driven grouse or not. If I may quote Martin Niemöller

Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
