Richie10 345
Hi, I know he is young and I don't expect him to catch any, but I would have thoughthe would be a bit more interested. He has eaten rabbit and played with skins but he doesn't seem to notice rabbits. Is that normal at this age? Everything is a game still and when I throw the dummy he runs off with it and then gives it back once I start ignoring him. Any suggestions? Thanks Quote Link to post

Guest jt750
At that age they are likely to be a bit unsure of new things. Pups been thro i rule the roost and own everything i see phase and come out the other side knowing different and its a case of is this bunny going to boss me i'll just look and see for the moment .Let him/her weigh things up and in their own time they will chase. fazza123 517
The easier to train when there not chasing everything! As soon as it sees another dog chase the penny will drop. ATB Quote Link to post
blackpack 70
nothing to worry about too young yet pups are usually not interested at that age, i train my pup retrieving in a alley way as he cant get passed me and will try to run past me but in a alley way they cant so in the end the penny dropped give him plenty of praise and a reward not too much retrieving at that age good luck Quote Link to post
Richie10 345
Cheers guys. I will leave him to chase other dogs which is his favorite pastime. I will keep going, he is being a bit stubborn but will continue the training. He is a saluki x wheaten and my first pup, so not the easiest choice! Thanks for the help! Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Just use the summer to work on the basics, recall, obedience, etc. Let him be a pup. If you must do something, show him a few rats or something. Quote Link to post
Bootsha 1,306
And sheep, as part of his "puppy stage", and obedience training let him know from the get go that certain things are off the menu, this my friend will reap the rewards for years to come. As far as not being interested in bunny's at the mo, he's not long left the tit, let nature take its course, and rest assured it will. Work and time spent on basic training / obedience and good manners now will give you a well balanced dog thats a pleasure to own and work for years to come. Best of luck with him.
