What makes your Ideal Air Gun Club

We often hear that many Shooters do not belong to Air Gun Clubs

When I first Joined Lea Valley it was just changing from a Active

Field Target Club into a General Purpose Club

Aware that some Clubs have limited Ranges

And it's down to those that Shout Loudist as to what they use the Range For

@ Lea Valley We have a General Plinking Range which has at least 50 Target's

Mostly Rest knock down Targets - where the head is knocked down and a mid body shot reset's the

Head

Out to around 60 Metres

Also assortment of Bells @ Distances

We also have a Zeroing Range - where Shooters can set up Scopes or set up and test New Pellets

Putting out paper or own Targets

We also have a seperate Air Pistol Range where All Legal Pistols can be Shot

Again We have a good Range of Metal Targets

Inclubing Speed Plates and timers

We also have another Range Where Members have a Range where they can set out their own Targets

When not being used for Competitions

I have over the years visited a Fair Number of Clubs which have got different but similar setups

We are Lucky @ Lea Valley - As ground it run by Corperate Clay Ground

Which has a Noise restriction on Saturday's

So we also have Access to a Large Club House - where We have inhouse Catering and Flush Toilets

Club house often becomes a meeting place for local Shooters to call in for a Chat and practise

My ideal club would be one where I could walk to within 30 minutes. Instead of having to travel by rail and buses to get there.

It would ideally have an indoor and outdoor range, FT &HFT, and of course a pistol range for plinking, serious target work, and a practical pistol pellet course, an IPAS range, must have a kitchen and a seating area for getting together.

Guess I can dream ;)

Sounds like a great place.

the Mendip Shooting Ground is where i go for a bit of target practice or zeroing session when i want to, for example try some new pellets out etc

they are a friendly bunch and offer a total of 4 ranges for members with 2 of these ranges also being available for non members to use

i am sure they must make the bulk of their money from the shoygun side of things, the airgun membership being ridicuously cheap, as after paying £30 membership per year its £3 per session which can be all day long if you want, thats £3 for indoor 9 gallery range, outdoor 8 gallery range also HFT and FT ranges for members, bargain
