SMOGGY 34
I'm gutted, just come back from exercising the dog on my dads farm, hes in the middle of lambing so i kept to the fields of corn, kept the dog on the lead and walked the full lenght of the field thinking there could be the odd rabbit for a slip,Nothing i turn round to head back, let the dog off to have a run a round FECK me 50 yards in front (an area i've just walked over) up jumps a hare dogs off like feck , in no time its bowled over, pregnent doe, b*****d, I really hate catching them this time of year, we dont have to many and it seems such a waste I think next time she'll have to stay on the slip. runforyourlife 361
Its a shame when things like that happen smoggy, but a fact of life. Maybe you will have to avoid that area at this time of the year, but i dont think it would be necassery to keep the dog on a leash, after all, the dog needs a stretch while out. Yo uwere just unfortunate and even more so the hare... They are very graceful animals, and we all carry a lot of respect for them... A friend of mine was out on permission land, when he dog saw a young deer!! Same thing happened and he was gutted. My lurcher last year came across a lapwings nest!! young chicks etc.. The country side is shared by many, survival is the key! CHeers Russ Quote Link to post
