Think the distance between the tips has more bearing on things than the shape or banding style some people like a wider gap I like quite a small one but nothing else has much effect I can be just as shit in any style ?

Yea I read about the fork width. I think the scout is 90mm. One question when you cut the top of the forks does it need to be dead flat across the two forks ? or does it not matter

I tend to cut much bigger than I need, then just trim it down as you go, I do like to cut the tips in one straight cut rather than each one separate, usually do my cutting Oct to jan if I see a nice fork then just chuck them in a box to make up as and when, the wood has less moisture in during winter months so won’t split when drying probably have more bare forks than I will ever use will get a pic next time I’m at the house ?

Having a little go back on the tubes just got 10 meters from China for a couple of quid usually go for the 1745 but thought I’d try 20/50 being on the boat don’t have quite the same space as in my workshop back home so cutting flats is a bit of a pain we’re as all I need is some long nose pliers to do the tubes will mess about with lengths and loop sizes for a few days then give them a go just got an old buffalo horn frame out for a go

Just tubed up another old fav 18” tube with 6” loop, another thing I have started using lately on the flats is small cable ties instead of wrap and tuck don’t seem to have any negative effects on the bands and you can use the locking bit as a sight

My mate swears by the tubes on his original milbro frame and won't touch flatbands or any other frame.

I just flit from one to the other but the tubes do have a bit of an edge I think, easier to tie, last longer and I find aiming along the tubes is much quicker,

How do you make up your tubes?

Cheers

Here we go mate sorry for the delay, if your using it on the pouch end, just go up through the pliers then pouch before going back through the pliers and make sure your tag ends come out on the right side of the pliers to keep them all in line, then give it a few tugs to allow it to bite in without going full stretch and your off natty forks just drill a 4mm drill through and loop away cheers
