Building Lurcher's Speed

Thought this would be an interesting thread to take advantage of all the knowledge in the forum.

How do you go about building a lurcher's speed. My lad is very heavy on the front and never seems to get into full gallop. Shoulders like a boerbel mind. 
As some will guess he's a Bull X, so I'll preempt it all and say there's no need to start the anti BullX talk. I know he wont ever be the quickest, he'll never be out in the slop etc etc, blah blah blah. 
Just want to get a thread going where people can pass on knowledge and tips that they have learnt over the years, unjudged

Can he catch rabbits mate? I dont mean every one he runs but say more than the odd one?  Have you got a picture of the dog?

get him out with a pushbike , you build up stamina, than after couple weeks ,go from riding trot, to flat  out gallop  , in month time he be faster and fitter  deff. be careful though, i took my big gsd x grey  out with the bike, and a rabbit in the next field started to fookin run, this thick prat seen the movement , he took me right of the bike into the ditch/ edge , when they get fit stop the  bike, and  keep out lamping then.

Think it will boil down to is it committed and will it strike at the first chance come what may. A 100% commited strike at first chance no matter what puts quarry in the bag though it also has its downside

If hes got shoulders like a mastiff you're probably keeping him way too heavy as neither a pitbull or a greyhound should have shoulders that heavy also what kind of exercise is he getting.Also he might just be a naturally slow dog

Just keep him as lean and fit as possible, then he'll be at his fastest.

This is him. He's just naturally built. Run him off lead every day just gains mass on his front end quickly

He's as fit as a fiddle just seems to pack on muscle fast

Not sure how to lean him out with his muscle content. Takes away his flexibility in his front end never seems to get up to full tilt though
