I’ve must have been lucky with my dogs, I’ve had whippets, beddy types, etc that took roe on open land, day or night !

Nothing fantastic , mind you, but they took as many as they missed.

The deer cross before this one was still taking them at ten year old !

Dont get me wrong, it’s a great sight, a running dog on a daytime hare or roe, but it’s not some special achievement.

Cheers.

Careful mate, you don't want your protege calling you a liar...

"The roe in Hull will make your dog a cull"

My little ditty on the situation....?

Well that’s generally how a bet works. Or you can just admit that a dog can stop a roe on open land.

you went from run a hare and the roe for 5k

to some march for 5k aswell

you up for the hare and then roe ? fresh dog is easy work ain’t it

Yep it was about his mud slugs being as versatile as my scabby lurchers.

what when you you wouldn’t run unless it was ferreting and picking  ducks off water and treeing  squirrels ?

your right easy enough for a good dog especially fresh a lot faster then fallow though

but good slip on open land after a few runs takes a very good dog

He once swam with one at Lowestoft

that’s the thing divis like that don’t grasp , to watch a lab work the water is quite the sight . The most powerful water dog without a doubt , I’ve seen mine on countless days bob under the tide as he swims , amazing to see how a canine adapts

i like the labs as you say great on the water

Mate that wasn't what you said,

It was simply his dog wouldn't put a bend in one on open land... nothing about running hares first...

Here we go again hares hares hares … we’ll let’s go further let’s have five grand on obedience let’s have five grand on ferreting let’s have five grand in working cover let’s have five grand on working to the gun let’s have five grand on retrieving from open land deep cover and water. Let’s have five grand on ratting. My dog would beat yours on all of that. You have specialist hare dogs so yes they should easily beat my dog, however she has a hell of an engine and can run so don’t get to cocky.

because your dog would need 6 minutes in the tank to stop the first hare mate it won’t pipe or go to cover it will be ripping out a turns 5 minutes in playing with the dog

only certain types can handle them runs mate as you know
