I love all these old photos. They take me back to another time.It all seemed a lot easier then. Buy your lurcher pups from ads in exchange and mart. Plenty of rabbits and hares and mostly not as much bother as these days.

First "proper lurcher" after moving on from the non-peds, early 70's,

A bitza with saluki, stag, collie, Greyhound in her breeding,

First pure saluki i had in the Middle East, early 80's,

Not a lurcher, but a pure bull bitch my brother and I had and hoped to breed from, but got killed by a car.

Yea I do like to see a good shape to the back legs it definitely has an affect on speed, I also think the way a saluki runs keeping a generally flat back when at speed is another point which gives them greater stamina because there not using loads of energy from there back muscles like a whippet or greyhound does as they flex there back a lot when sprinting which gives them extra speed but tires them out quicker

I have posted pictures before of my first proper lurcher a great dog who never suffered injuries despite my silliness of running him on hard ground and daunting places I lost him at nearly 7 years old after he disappeared on the Wentworth Estate running an hare into woodland never to be seen again.

To be honest, my brother wanted to breed bulls, I wanted to breed bull/greyhounds, but the bitch was knocked down chasing a collie down the Newcastle coast road, so that ended that particular discussion !
