If I remember correctly Ford made between 5/6 thousand 3 door cosworths and 500 were sent to Ford motorsport/ Tickford and became the RS500 the 500 units were what was needed to be a production car that then could be used in touring car racing, they were all meant to be black but someone decided to do about 50 each in moonstone and white, there’s still a few white ones kicking about but the moonstone blue are a rare beast now, if what I’ve said there is correct I really did spend too much time hanging around with them rs owners club geeks, but I did take a lot of money out of them

No fair play mate thats good knowledge....sounds about right to me Tickford was a name id forgotten all about it puts me in mind of the last Cosworth motored car i had about 15 years ago i only bought it out of nostalgia but was a scarey f****n thing....if you remember the Capri's were notorious for sliding out at the back in the wet even with the normal Pinto engines they had so with the Cosworth lump it would only have to spit rain and my bottle went ....its been passed around a fair bit since but still on the road apparently.

They were mental, if someone was to spit in front of them they would spin off the road, my mate had a 280 Brooklands, it’s mad to think they were a 2.8 V6 and were only putting out about 150hp which was about 149 more than the rest of the car could handle

Nice motors them gnasher, although im surprised there wasnt more mustang engine conversions done in them, the v8s

I think most of the V8's that ended up in Fords and Kit cars and suchlike was the Rover V8 somebody did tell me why years ago but i forget now...a pal of mine has an AC Cobra with a Rover V8 stone me that can shift....always loved the noise of a big lazy V8 on tickover,had a few Mk 1 Escorts with them as well i just love the old retro Fords.

I had a left hand drive V6 when i lived in Germany in the mid 1980`s Fun to drive in the snow..........................Not Lol.
