I read that statistically, chocolate labs have more vet visits than  other coat types. Vets love them. The colour must be associated with more genetic problems. They die earlier too.

I'm sure I read somewhere that it's one of those breeds where the name doesn't match the actual origins in that the Labrador is actually from Newfoundland and the Newfoundland is from Labrador.

I read an article once where it said that in sone litters bred there could be three different types of what became pedigree dogs in it . Mental 

smaller ones labs 

bigger ones Newfoundland’s 

bigger ones with white landseers

Anyone can check the Kennel Club requirements which show the silver as unrecognised as a breed. The AKC do see them as a breed but they must be registered as a chocolate Labrador breed. Therefore it seems fairly sure that a silver is a non breed. IMO. Jok.

They only recognize yellow black or chocolate but they are a variety of different shades of said coloring all three are registered as yellow

I have a fox red myself , he’s been good as gold as a carefree easy maint family pet / walking companion
