:wallbash: I never saw That coming! Bit tunnel visioned where toads are concerned.

Ye just pulled me in from an amphibians site, actually! :D True! Sitting here drooling over tree frogs 'n shit. Having just spent some quality time attending to the snappers tank and having a look at the bullfrog.

Toad's still in his place. Bit like me now, he is. Solitary. Phlegmatic. Edging ever closer to an unremarked passing.

the ones we are coming across seem to be getting bigger

Not to point out the obvious, mate. But, at this time of the year? Yeah. The mean average of toads encountered Will appear bigger. Quite simply because the smaller, younger ones have grown up. And the ones that were already adults will have piled on as much as possible, like bears, for the winter.

So, yeah. big, healthy toads should be the thing, right now. Female should still stick out like an Eltex drinker wrapped round ye head though.

What a fukking Fascinating observation! :good:

Yeah. That actually Does add up too, doesn't it? Calcium's quite a big thing , with toads, I believe? And we've seen how 'dairy' rats can thrive too .... :hmm:

Could be a Phd in that, for some jammy fukker!

When I check my mole traps there are toads living in some of the trap site. Most of them are there all winter. Salamanders too. And we have a toad residing in the sunken hatch where the water meter is. That seems to be there all year round.

Salamanders too.

Just Had To fukking say that, didn't ye?! Fukker! Bung me a couple, please. I'll breed them again, no trouble! ;)

Black and yellow ones (S. salamandra) I'm guessing? Striped or spotted?

Chatting to a lad in Serbia, the other day. Muvva fukka's got Green Toads (B. viridis) coming out his fukking ear holes, and he didn't even know wtf they Were!!! :icon_eek: His place is Literally crawling with them!

I'd have fukking Killed to breed them! Weird things though. Only case I ever heard of was some old couple (of guys? Dunno) who had them breeding in this huge greenhouse.

Never really saw the things, apparently. All went on amongst the foliage. I imagine they found babys, so knew they were breeding in there.

(Waits .....)
