The nipper took 4 more out of the traps tonight. Still all around the first pen. Had a cracking night with him, saw some deer, watched some young buzzards in the nest, chuffed when he identified some

After saying I was stopping using fenns I've now found myself running a trap line of 30. My hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me

I get plenty alive in both fenn's and bodygrips. I really like fenn traps. You will get less refusals with a well placed fenn.

They just don't kill cleanly. I used bodygrips alot for squirrels for a couple of years and can't remember any bad catches.

I only use fenns out of desperation these days and am never happy knowing ive got em set.

DIDO.1 I think its a sign of the times. Twenty years ago it probably wouldn't be an issue. We focused more on trap catchability, more so than humanness.

Focusing on humanness, has affected both the adaptability, and effectiveness of modern traps I feel. Look at the USA. They don't focus so much on killing, but more so on catching, when it comes to trapping animals, and they certainly know how to catch.

Hate fenns ..... rubbish trap , often abused, poor kills often when set right...

.......but.....I'm smashing the squirrels in these boxes, hole just big enough to get head and neck through, peanut butter on the treadle

Both feeding young as well ☹️. Caught in same loft
